Script to change collation on all mysql tables?

A lot of people, upgrading from 4.6 to 4.7, or having phpmyadmin issues, are interested in a script or some sort of file that will change the collation to utf8_general_ci on all tables. Anyone have any ideas? I want to add it to the handbook. I think it would be pretty easy to make a sql thingy for default tables, how do you deal with prefixes? Anisa. OOO! Hi, What looks good to some is not necessarily good for others, and what looks bland to you, may be actually quite nice. If the sites listed here [1] and here [2] and here [3] and here[4] are bland in your opinion, then perhaps you'd be better off making your own. Note that not all these theme are available for download, some of them are only sites spotted that looked good in the submitter/site owner's opinion. Gordon and all, Thanks for all your help. The host has found some issue on the server thanks to your troubleshooting, and is investigating a possible solution. In the meantime he asked if I could ask the list if it is possible to put a port number in the $db_url for the database server? in other words, something like: $db_url = 'mysql://drupaluser:mypassword@111.111.111.111:3307/drupaldb'; where 111.111.111.111 is the MySQL database server? My gut feeling is that the string will not get parsed correctly, because of the fact that there is a : already in the $db_url after the drupaluser. Any ideas on this, please? Thanks! create company website using drupal

I'm new on drupal. I want to use it to create a normal company website which with a navigation bar including links like for example about us services products solutions contact us All contents of the about is only administrate and create by company's web adminisatrator therefore it's not necessary to show a "user login" for people to registeration. Then I first create a "About us" but every time I access the site e.g. http://www.mycompany.com It will display a "user login" block if browser session is not logged in. How do I configure such that anonymous people just browse the website's contents I created without showing the "user login"block I found some show cases developed using drupal, they don't present with a user login block http://www.latuk.com/ http://www.tacticaltech.org/ how they did it ? ps. the layout something like http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11300/11346-b.jpg you can see that this type of website is not necessary to provide user registration function

Providing ownerships of a subset of the site to user/group

We are investigating Drupal for our department web site. Right now there is a person or group of persons responsible for each part of the site. When we convert to Drupal, what's the easiest way to give a user or role permission to "own" (i.e. the only ones who can edit that section) a set of pages without giving them permission to edit all pages or to publish pages outside of that area? Is there a module that is set up to handle this sort of "sandbox" model? Concrete example (we are a department in a university). One of our faculty members is in charge of all the pages dealing with the graduate program. In our current site, this translates to all pages in the /graduate area. He owns all of the files in that folder, and can only publish new content to that folder. Another person is in charge of the undergraduate program (/undergrad), a third person is in charge of the continuing education program (/conted), and so on. How best to model this in Drupal? Is this something that Drupal is well-suited to handle? Correct, just a separate database and a separate "files" directory for uploading of images, documents etc. http://www2.evergreen.edu/dave http://www2.evergreen.edu/itch http://www2.evergreen.edu/ITTrainingRoom Are three sites hosted from the instance of drupal (same php, themes, modules, etc) against different databases. I'm running on linux, apache, mysql. Technically each of these directories are just symbolic links to the one drupal code base. The way we are using this is that we actually create a separate database for each site section. The look and feel is controlled centrally as all sites have the same "theme" applied, but each site has its own separate database. Then you establish different roles for each site, but all are using the same "code base". You can also set a similar thing up in the same database, but you need to do the multi-site install. I find that to be more complicated than it's worth, but others find it quite valuable. The answer depends on whether your server is linux or windows. There are PHP specific settings in the php.ini file that control this behavior. The linux ones rely on a properly installed and configured sendmail, the windows ones just require you to provide the server that you're sending mail to. Here's what the php.ini settings look like. [mail function] ; For Win32 only. SMTP = localhost ; For Win32 only. sendmail_from = me(a)localhost.com ; For Unix only.
