Drupal multi sites

Is it possible to have a drupal base install that is not used other than for multi sites. Where the base install is not a registered domain, just a container. /var/www/html/devel is the base working drupal installation. /sites/site1, sites/site2 etc are registered domains. /etc/http/conf/httpd.conf has: #-------------------Base install <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName devel DocumentRoot /var/www/html/devel </VirtualHost> #------------------ALL Devel multi sites listed here <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName devel.site1 DocumentRoot /var/www/html/devel </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName devel.site2 DocumentRoot /var/www/html/devel </VirtualHost>

Help with SMTP Setup

Hi All, I have hMailServer just installed on my local windows 2003 and tried to use it for SMTP server in my Drupal 6.x installation on the same machine. I've configured hMailServer to use my ip address as domain (I don't have a domain name yet so I am not sure whether this will work or not.) and set up a webmaster account on hMailServer. I also changed mail function setting in php.ini file. But the SMTP in Drupal is still not working and I got the following error message: warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 530 SMTP authentication is required. in D:\wamp\www\includes\mail.inc on line 192. Unable to send e-mail. Please contact the site administrator if the problem persists. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks. Tom

Drupal 7 create content - page or article I wanted to put an article which contains links to a few videos in sidebar 2 in Bartik, do not need submitted by and the date, just the title. Is it possible/easy to turn off 'Submitted by' details and date when creating an article. thanks Roger

Copying a site

Hi, I have done this before but I seem to be struggling to get this to work. My approach is - export DB - cp directory - search for old machine www.foo.com and replace with new site - tar directory up - copy both to new machine - untar directory on new machine - create DB on new machine - create user on new machine - import mysql -u root -p <DB> <dump.sql However have the error /Notice/: unserialize(): Error at offset 27410 of 57720 bytes in /DrupalDatabaseCache->prepareItem()/ (line /401/ of //home/user1/drupal-7.0/includes/cache.inc/). ///PDOException/: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') ORDER BY fit DESC LIMIT 0, 1' at line 1: SELECT * FROM {menu_router} WHERE path IN () ORDER BY fit DESC LIMIT 0, 1; Array ( ) in /menu_get_item()/ (line /443/ of //home/user1/pmi/drupal-7.0/includes/menu.inc/). Make fields required depending on role?

Hello all, Is there a way to make CCK fields required per role? My admin users shouldn't have to fill in required fields. There's a module http://drupal.org/project/cck_required_by_role, but it doesn't seem to work on content taxonomy fields. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Best, Toon

Nodevote not updating votes

Hi, I have nodevote installed and a view showing the total votes on the nodes. I have looked all over drupal, read the post from hell and I still see no way to make this work, so do I just need to wait. I have created an action to send out email when a post is created or updated and after it is created. I want it to display the current page information so a person receiving the email can click on the inks and go to that page or directly download the file attachment. Another thing I have noticed is I have two email addresses at the end of the body and it assed [1] and [2] and it added the emails at the end of the email. Stumped I think I can get the term to expand by using: http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_entity_index . It provides a [node:terms] token so that you can use [node:terms:first] to get the 'first' term associated with a node, just like the Drupal 6 [term-raw] token. Now how to get the file: tokens to expand. Here is what I got in the action email: A post has been created in [term:vocabulary] In the [term:name] section. It was created on: [node:created] The title is: [node:title] The body is: [node:body] The uurl is: [node:url] the absolute url is [node:url:absolute] the url alias is [node:url:alias] Direct download is [file:url] Made possible by [site:name] [site:slogan] [site:url] The email ends up looking like this: Subject: [term:vocabulary] posted at test 7 A post has been created in [term:vocabulary] In the [term:name] section. I would like to replace the "Read More" text with an image. I have installed the string overrides module to no avail. Not being a css guru I am not sure if I can do it that way. Right now I am getting the background image, which I want, *and* the text, which I don't want.
