Using the node theme or a template from custom module

I've got a custom module for D7. On some pages, it returns html. I'm using this in the page callback function example_page(){ return array( "#type" => "markup", "#markup" => "<p>Lorem ipsum etc</p>", ); } It works fine, but the page (obviously) doesn't use my node.tpl file, and so it looks different from the rest of the site. It's not that the node.tpl file is particularly complex, but it does some things like wrap the node content in divs that have styling applied to them etc. I could use #prefix and #suffix to wrap the above output in these divs, but is there either a) some way to reuse my node template or b) what's the best way to create a quick clone of the node template that can be reused in render arrays every time I want to output pages from my module. Do I have to call a theme function by #theme or is there a way to use an actual template file?

Character encoding in meta tags

I am running a website under Drupal 5 (I believe) and we recently discovered that non-ASCII characters in the meta keyword and description tags at the top of each page do not display correctly. Specifically, the Swedish characters å, ä and ö are displayed as diamonds with question marks both in Firefox and in Chrome. Note that the meta tag content-type is set to display the character set as UTF-8 but this does not seem to happen. How do I correct this? Replacing the characters above with the equivalents å etc. does not help. Thanks.

Views Taxonomy and dropdownlist

Hello, I'm a Drupal newbie. I'm using latest stable version of Drupal 7 and Views 3. I have a content type which represents sewing machines : * brand * model * year * power (watt) I have a view to show all the sewing machines. Now I want to make a view with "year" as exposed filter. Actually I want the user to be able to select a range (between XXXX and YYYY), I want to show this filter as two dropdownlists. I've read about "hook_form_alter" to change exposed filters aspect (change a text input to a select list) but I would like to know if it is possible to do the same thing using a mix with Taxonomy ? I know that it is possible to create dropdownlist (select list) with taxonomy terms. But is it possible to use this list of terms to select fields from a content type within a view ? administering drupal through the web

Hi all, I am looking at the administration of drupal from outside of my workplace environment, there I use drush ssh my own image editor (gimp or inkscape) gvim itsalltext (firefox plugin) since I am doing sites for a clinic where access to the internet is restricted to standard ports (80 and 443, 8080) but not allowed to even use smtp, imap and of course no ftp or ssh. I am really restricted in administering my site from there, and also people cannot easily update and upgrade the site. I have found that I can install and upgrade modules through the web in drupal and even tried live_css (which does not work for me so well) What are you using in such a case where you need to hand over much of the administration to people that cannot use ssh, ftp etc. Any ideas? The issue with the css is not so important, since those changes should rarely be needed and could be done from outside the restricted area... show view of items with their child node references

Is their a way to show a list of items and their child items in one display? Thanks Earnie for your quick reply, I appreciate that you know elysia_cron and will try it out. The other was not helpful for me. Yes, I had seen serfish and think that it is a really serious security concern… but that is not the only reason. The provider is also blocked by the firewall of the clinic and my clients cannot handle ssh and command line at all. It would be good enough for me though, if I was not too paranoid using an internet connection to give away my ssh credentials ;-) I am sure this could start some hot discussion on security, and I would advise anyone to NOT do ssh over the web. With my standard ssh account for example I can (and I have to) sudo-ly fix everything on my server (and break everything ;), too) Maybe I will create some handicapped user for this purpose, but then if it is for myself, I might as well get an android or iphone app to do real ssh The other, the firefox plugin, still uses the same ports to connect, which leaves me inside the proxy/firewall of the clinic :-( Finally do none of those two solutions provide ftp or scp access to the file system, so I still have to find something to administer my uploads and downloads. I might use the serfish with a mimed ssh-account to move around files on the filesystem, but I would love an ajax interface for that, so that the non-techies can do that, too Any solution for that? Videos Tutorials provider | please advise for a newbie

Hello I am newbie to drupal and web development as a whole and been trying to go in my own since a while and it seems that I keep asking silly question that members here or in the list or in drupal forum do not like. So I am thinking about getting video tutorials to learn and understand how things going on. So please advise if you know from your experience a good one as I've found so many providers like _*Drupalizeme*_ and *_Build A Module_* and some others and do not know which one to get. Hi. I wonder if you can create a new group of users just for those 6 people? Is that possible? I have never tried it. <snip> I have need to let 6 users add or update data in taxonomy fields which provide drop down menus for Town. Locality and Venue. I have an editor's page and menu for such purpose where those selectI kinda thought of that but they still have to have admin permissions. </snip> I set up a role and a couple of users with that role with restricted admin permissions but it doesn't work. I tried in orgainc groups and workbench but still no luck. It seems to be a flaw in the thinking about taxonomy entry, in that the devs set up the system and no one else can input. It seems that CMS's seem to be more magazine oriented, encouraging anyone to input and the taxonomy probably suits that system where it doesn't easily facilitate instances we need. Where for instance one editor has one reviewer - responsible for and seeing only the unpublished data they need to and nothing else. When the Reviewer publishes the data/article, etc public see only generic data, members see public and member specific data and management sees all but none of these can input or edit. We have 12 editors, 12 reviewers and one site controller who can take down an off topic or offensive article. Our current thinking is looking at using content types instead of taxonomy but that makes the data structure unmanageable as we found with our Drupal 6 site and is not the recommended way for Drupal 7. I would need 7 content types to do the work of 3 taxonomies. Our taxonomies provide selectable data for drop down menu selections. I'm thinking of using a page content type with the body set to plain text, and getting the editors to enter their taxonomy entries to that then, I think, there is a module that reads plain text and puts those lines into taxonomy, maybe I can get it to read the plain text on the page and create the taxonomy from that. It is a pity that things are so convoluted. Thing is that we only need to update the location, venue and contacts taxonomy infrequently, maybe a dozen times a year but each of the editors need to be able to do that and the reviewers need to be able to review the entry. Apologies for the convoluted nature of this post, I'm stuck and somewhat confused as to what to do. Thanks Roger

Rolling out Features

I've been trying to deploy Views (new and updates) using Features. It seems the recipient site is just marking the views as "overridden" instead of actually using the code in the Feature. Views handler not found

I found http://drupal.org/node/1517916, which is for D7. I am trying to adapt it back to D6/Views2. I have gotten the hook_views_data_alter() to function. I can choose the added field in the view. But the handler that is specified can't be found. I have tried several different combinations of paths in the hook_views_api(). Does someone have the magic touch to making Views find my handler?
