question about upgrading

I have an older site in D5 that I am working on upgrading to D6. Unfortunately, some modules that were used in the old site no longer exist (addnode for example). What will happen when I upgrade without this module? Katie

menu_link_save ?

Hello ! I would like to transfer one menu item and its children from one menu to another menu (archives). I made a custom archive setting in my content type wich gives the possibility to switch the pages to the archives and wonder if there is a drupal function menu_link_save() ? that I could use in my hook_node_insert() and how to use it thanks

Hierarchical relationship of nodes

I'm getting ready to start a site that will center on three types of nodes that are in a hierarchy. The parent node will have lots of fields, the child node needs to inherit some of those fields, plus add some of its own. Then the grandchild inherits from the child. I'm not seeing a lot of ways to handle this without a bunch of custom code. Does anyone have any ideas? Yes, I have seen "Hierarchical Organization of Nodes" on GDO. It didn't address this need. openlayers_proximity module does not provide contextual search in views

Hello, I hope someone can help me with the following problem I need a contextual filter in a view to search for nodes in the proximity of a city given in the url. I used the openlayer locator feature (http://drupal.org/project/ol_locator) to get started and it works as promised with normal (non-contextual that is) filters. However, according to the thread #1469956: [Meta] - Improve Views-powered Geofield proximity searches <http://drupal.org/node/1469956> comment #59 there should be a contextual filter in version 7.x-2.x of the openlayer_proximity module which I have installed. However, there is none in my setup. Furthermore, there is this comment #1 to the thread with the promissing name of "Cant find Views contextual filter for proximity <http://drupal.org/node/1566286>" that the filter was renamed, but I cannot find it nevertheless. Was this feature removed again or am I missing something obvious? Thanks a lot! Christian

Can anyone please advise the best route or options to get mailing list type functionality for Drupal 6? MailChimp seems by far to have the most traction, but I prefer not to be locked into a 3'rd party. Mail handler with Mail Comment extension seems to have more traction than most, but there's something disconcerting about 35,000 downloads but only 2,600 active sites. TIA

custom field data not loading

Hello: I'm having what seems like a strange problem. I see data in my database for some custom fields, but it isn't being loaded by node_load. Any ideas about how to "force" D7 to load whatever's there?
