Adding fields to Manage and Display

Okay, following the example of Pathauto, I used hook_field_extra_fields() to get my module's data to show up on "Manage Fields." Now how do I get it added to "Manage display" so that user can place it wherever they want (it would be extra nice if Display Suite could also see the field)? Redirecting To External Page For OAuth

I'm working on a module to integrate with the Piryx API, and per the OAuth documentation, I should be redirected to an external page where the user can allow access to my application. The problem is that I'm using drupal_http_request(): $response = drupal_http_request($url, $headers, 'GET', $data); to get the data, and the page markup is returned in $response->data instead of redirecting me to the external page (if I put the URL in my browser, it brings up the page fine). Is there something I can do to redirect to the external URL so the user can allow access, or do I just somehow need to use the markup to display it in my site? I have a page callback function defined, but then the problem is getting the markup to the page function. drupal_goto() allows me to pass items in the URL, but this is a significant amount of markup that would create the URL from hell, so I don't want to do it that way. If put it in $GLOBALS in my form submit function, for some reason it isn't available when I get to my page callback. This is my first foray into OAuth, so if there is a better way to do what I need to do, I'm all ears. Thanks. Steve

Aegir - Really as good as is sounds?

Hi, I have been looking at Aegir as a way to manage multiple Drupal sites and a easy method of managing upgrades being able to "roll" sites to newer "platforms".. From reading the site it sounds perfect but thats the "sales pitch".. How many people use it and are there any issues to watch out for with it? Thanks..

We gave up on Aegir, hard to install, seemed convoluted didn't do anything for us in ubuntu11, fedora 14 or centos5.6. We instead use drush in a terminal Hope this helps. Roger

Converting a query to D7

how to Form Render-Alter in D7?

Hello, Very sorry to ask this, but I am going in a loop with the documentation, and the IRC chat isn't helping much either... so I hope this won't take much of your time. I understand in D7 that we can write in a custom module for form alterations such as: file: webadmin_ui.module //this is a custom module I made function webadmin_ui_form_page_node_form_alter(&$form, &$form_state, $form_id) { dpm ($form);//see values //change values as you please here... } And I also understand that in D7 we REMOVED the feature/function to alter the form values in the THEME layer, so this function was killed: THEME_form_hook_alter($form) {} Because supposedly I can theme it via different methods. In the $form variable, when I DPM it [see above] I note the theme-chain: dpm($form) outputs: [among other things] $form['#theme']['page_node_form'] $form['#theme']['node_form'] If I try and be "smart" and write in my template.php: mytheme_page_node_form($form) { dpm("it works!"); } I clearly get nothing as this function is never called. Can I add my own function call to this list? If so, how? Is there documentation on this anywhere? The documentation in D6 was a mess, and for this in D7 its really no better [maybe even worse cause I keep hitting D6 pages mixed into D7 ones with no warning]. The whole point of all this is I want to understand how I can not only modify the form BEFORE it gets rendered, but also alter HOW the form is rendered... wrap some parts in a DIV, maybe add a missing CLASS or ID etc. Ideas? Drupal 7 menus

I seem to have an interesting problem with disappearing menu items. As admin I have Data Entry menu which provides for adding taxonomy terms: Add event (Content Type) Add Contact (Content Type) Add Author (taxonomy terms) Add book reference (taxonomy terms) Add Where (location of meeting) (taxonomy terms) Add article (taxonomy terms) Add Page (taxonomy terms) Add User Add Rule this menu is for administrator, editor and coordinator with suitable permissions. Data Viewer displays taxonomy for adding terms or altering current entries View Authors list Event list Book references list View quotations View locations list View contacts list etc. This menu is for admistration and Reviewers. If I log in as Reviewer: the only menu items are Events list Contact List If I log in as Editor or Cordinator: Menu items visible are Add Contact Add Event Add Article Add Page. Data Viewer menu displays: Events list Contacts List I've checked everything but cannot solve why some menu items don't exist for some Users/Roles It seems that taxonomy systems do not readily display as menu items in this case and the only 2 consistent menu items are contacts and events which are Content Types. Has anyone solved this or got any tips on what to look for please? Thanks Roger

D6: setting up a mantra counter

Dear all, one of the site I'm administrating is the one of a tibetan buddhist center. In this tradition it is common to collect and gather mantras or prayers. So those who wnat recite prayers, count them and then the sum is computed. We would like to set up a counter on our site, so that everybody can say how many prayers or mantras they have recited. I'm wondering whether there are already solutions to handle this kind of things. I imagine that either it'd be automatic -- as soon as a person adds a number of mantras it is added to the collective counter, but then there'd have to be some sort of spam protection; or it could be manual, so there could for instance be a form where the person enters his/her e-mail and the number of mantras, and then the administrator of the site incremetns the counter manually. But actually none of these seems very satisfactory to me, so any suggestion would be warmly appreciated. Best wishes, Sherab.

understanding per-node permissions

Hi all: I put in a request associated with the Content Access module, here, http://drupal.org/node/1305862, but I would also like to ask for general advice. I'm hoping to add per-node, per-user, "administrative" rights. The Content Access module thinks in terms of 'view', 'update', and 'delete' permissions, but 'update' permissions does not extend to administration of per-node ACLs. Furthermore, Drupal itself seems to think this way as well, per http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/modules--node--node.api.php/function/hook_… However, as a node creator or superuser, I have the Content Access tab on "my" nodes. Rather than trying to introduce a new permission called 'administer', might it make more sense for me to just make sure that users who have the 'delete' permission also get the full Content Access tab? And how might I go about doing that? Thanks in advance, Joe
