Hello everyone I am absolutely new to Drupal and i have a lot of questions I know, I know RTFM I did but still Used to make sites with homesite 5.1 and i could see what i got. It was all on my harddrive and i ftp-ed it to the site where i wanted. Clean and easy. But now Drupal 7.0 I can feel it is great and i really want to work with it. But i get stuck on some simple issues I can't find. My trial is on www.dallef.com (don't laugh) I got it up and running on the server of my host. All is working fine. Got dallef.com directed to a directory called D7place. here i my questions 1 somehow i get the text "body"when i make a page. I must have turned on that option. I want to turn it back But i can't find it. 2. How do i make a link on a page? (full html option? 3 I want to make a bluespage with music. On one page info about the artist and then a few pages with photo's and music. (second menu? 4 Can i only upload a photo in article? 5 How can i link to a musicfile (mp3) And where do i put the musicfile 6 When i got the side up and running i have to migrate to the directory of dallef. Right? Or can i have multiple sites direct to D7Place I scanned three books and looked on the site drupal.org. my questions seem to be too simple. Try "making a link" on the drupal site As you may have noticed i don't know didley about programming but i can learn I need someone just to get me started and then i can figure it out myself. Hi, I have a new install of CentOS 5.6 which is up to date. I've downloaded and unpacked Drupal 7.2 and am working through the install. I've got a problem with an apparent conflict between php-common and php53- common. The Drupal installer is asking for php-gd and php-dom. "Grant node access" action? (Drupal 6)

Hello All, I'm looking for a way to grant access ("edit" permission) on an individual node to an individual user using the Rules module, and i.e. to only a subset of fields of that node. E.g. a user with an "evaluator" role can "evaluate" a project. The actions that come with that are programmed through Flags + Rules. The evaluating user should now get permission to edit certain fields of the project node. How would i do that? Any help greatly appreciated! Best, Toon

Private vs public files

Hello, I am confused about the difference between the private and public file system on Drupal. As far as I understand I can access public files via their URL but that is not possible for private files. Is this correct? And is this the only distinction? Is it actually 'safer' to have the private file system enabled? In this context, does anyone know how to best use IMCE with the private file system? I cannot upload files into nodes with the IMCE browser unless I uncheck the box "Disable serving of private files" in the 'Common Settings' of IMCE's configuration page. And if this setting is unchecked, can anyone with the URL access those files? This somewhat defeats the purpose of the private file system, doesn't it?!? Are there modules I could use to restrict access to those files? Or do I not understand this correctly? I would appreciate any comments, tips, hints. Thanks a bunch, Andre

Drupal 7.2 is still on the edge as far as modules and other niceties but I reckon our needs are low at the moment and by the time we are ready to release the sites there will likely be more drupal modules. I really do not want the hassle of trying to change the database over from 6 to 7 some months down the track as it will have fairly redundant data, I'd rather start with the databases we will be using for the next 2-3 years, one less hassle. restoring drupal site - postgresql database

Greetings, While restoring one of my drupal-related databases, I get the following error/warning messages: ERROR: permission denied to set session authorization ERROR: must be owner of schema public The restore process is issued from a command line: > psql drupal1 < drupal1.out The site functions correctly, and the admin pages are accessible after a login/password challenge. D7 Multistep Form with Pager

I have a custom module with a form and it works fine with multistep--I found a tutorial somewhere how to do that. But I need it to be filtered by the user and paged. Just like the admin/content page we all know and love. I see that the pager links do not contain the filter settings--they are just ?page=7 etc. I found in node.admin.inc that the filters are kept constant by inserting them into $_SESSION and then referencing them later. Is that the way to do it? I'm confused because in D6 my pager links would end with : ?page=4&begin_date[month]=5&begin_date[day]=27&begin_date[year]=1993 etc. IE the filter settings were in the URL. Is there something I am missing to get that to work? While I'm here I will mention that in D6 I used this: $form['searchparams']['begin_date'] = array( '#type' => 'date', '#title' => 'Begin Date', '#default_value' => $form['post']['begin_date'] ); to get my filters to remain after the submit. I changed one line: '#default_value' => $form_state['input']['end_date'], for D7 and it works. Is that the right way? Any light you can shed on this topic is appreciated. I have been Googling and reading but a push in the right direction would help--this is my first foray into D7 FAPI. :) Thanks!

CentOS drupal 6.19 rpms - appropriate utilization?

Greetings, Our server hosts several domains. Of those domains, a few use drupal. In the past, we've used gzipped tarballs of Drupal, and when doing an upgrade, unzipped the tarball per instructions and then copied files into appropriate directories. With CentOS, rpms of drupal are available. Is there a more efficient way of perhaps using files from one rpm and applying them to hosted drupal websites? Thanks! Max Pyziur pyz(a)brama.com

Recovering Drupal sites after disk failure coinciding with system upgrade - Advice?

Greetings, We host several Drupal-oriented websites. Recently, we experienced a major disk failure, causing us to move from an OS and technology stack that was bleeding-edge in 2004, to a mainstream OS and technology stack currently. The original OS and technology stack was: Fedora Core 2.4 Apache 2.0.* PostgreSQL 7.4.8 PHP 4.3.11 Drupal 6.* Our new OS and stack is: CentOs 5.6 Apache 2.2.* PostgreSQL 8.1 PHP 5.1.6 No change to the Drupal 6.* variant. Before disk failure we managed to gzip-tar the Drupal-related websites, and run pg_dump against the respective website's Postgres database. We've restored the Drupal-related websites to their same respective directories (ones that the webserver recognizes. We've restored one of the Drupal-related databases; some adjustments had to first be made to the contents of one of "pg_dumps;" i.e. two lines had to be modified from 'CREATE FUNCTION greatest ...' to 'CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION "greatest" ....' in order for the Postgres database to be restored. However, the website returns Drupal's "Blue Screen of Death." (It's a nice shade of blue). The one that says, "Site off-line .... If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. ..." The database server is running, since other (non-Drupal) databases are fully accessible. While the general plan is keep looking through log files, trying to find clues to the cause, suggestions from the user community would be helpful, especially who have encountered similar circumstances and problems.
