SOLR

Hi, I need a multi-site search system but I am new in Drupal search. Firstly I tried http://drupal.org/project/multisite_search however it didn't work well, some words wasn't indexed. So I began to planning on setting up SOLR in order to use http://drupal.org/project/apachesolr_multisitesearch. (Google option is not sutiable for us.) Then I notice that there is a module such as http://drupal.org/project/nutch. So I am confused. Is there anybody who could explain difference between these modeule (even pure SOLR search)? I am also open to any suggestion about search, any module, SOLR w/o Drupal modules, any other search options... Thank you all in advance...

text in content area

Node import

I’m looking to import nodes. Node import and Feeds are both pretty close, but I have to allow the User to select an optional entry for population. Here are specifics: I have a file full of just email addresses. I want to import this list and allow the user to fill out certain fields. So, let’s say I have user1(a)email.com user2(a)email.com user3(a)email.com I want the user to be able to say, map this to email, and mark Department as (select list)… HR department. Or even text area. Select the field from the content type, and type in, “HR Dept.” Suggestions? Joel Willers

Extra measures to take before upgrading?

Hello all. Excuse in advance for the question, maybe too simple... This will be my first upgrade after the security advice I received. I am on Drupal 7.0. I have read in detail the instructions and I have a full backup in my hard disk now (local) I will do the same wit5h the database in a few moments. I understand correctly what they say to do (I guess). A couple of questions 1) It is no the same if I upload ALL the content of the upgrade without deleting all folders before? 2) Any extra advise you have for newbie people in Drupal before doing with the upgrade? change in format of security advisories

Once upon a time security advisories came with a link to: a) new drupal releases b) patches Direct link to patches was quite useful to evaluate the changes and the security treat quickly. security emails are in plain text so the increase in risk to trick users to download trojaned software should be minimal. Blogs and RSS feeds

We have Drupal 6.19 working with a highly modified theme, its basically a data entry for calendars of events. I have blog module turned off and RSS removed (Commented out) from the page.tpl.php I've been asked to build a youth fourm on the site with Blog, and RSS feeds. Can a new application such as the youth forum use another theme in the existing installation and have the desired modules without it affecting the primary use of the site or would it be more desirable to use multisite and start the youth forum in a new database/installation. I hope I've expressed this right, I'm at a bit of a loss with explanations. thanks in advance Roger

Conditionally display (menu) block in node view?

Hello again, Suppose i have 2 view on my page listing projects. When i go to project detail from one view i need to (continue) displaying a menu block. When i go to project detail from another view i don't. Both project detail URL's are identical. Is there a way to remember from which view i entered into the item's detail page? Best, Toon

uploading files to Open Atrium

I set up Open Atrium (along with Drupal) the other day and love it for a project management program. However, I've somehow messed up the file upload part. When I first set it up, I could and did upload files and they showed up correctly. However, now I cannot. I click the "browse" button, locate a file, click to upload it, the little ribbon deal moves, and then the file just isn't uploaded. I've read all sorts of info on both Drupal.org and openatrium.com and I've fixed the file permissions for the file folder to 0777, I've tried both public and private for the file types. I've done everything I can think, and it still won't work. Does anyone here have any exp with Open Atrium with Drupal who could offer some ideas? Thanks! Tina

Vendor Directory using drupal

Hi, I am planning to create a vendor directory for events using drupal where - vendors can create their profile(or I can create the profiles them vendors "claim ownership" of their profiles) - people looking for events can contact the vendors after signing up on the website. the people looking for the events can also pan the events on the website and request different vendors for proposals on the website.
