Video in Drupal 7

I¹m new to Drupal and am working with Drupal 7. I¹ve created a custom content type to store videos. I have the Media and Video modules installed. I seem to have 2 options for working with video. First I used the Video module. It uploads and plays okay provided the file is less than 8 MB. I have changed the variable to 50 MB in the setup section, but it continues to only handle <8 MB. It also throws errors when the node is displayed in summary or full view, even though the video is displayed and plays. Second I tried the multimedia option for the Media module set for video. There are fewer settings. It goes through the process of uploading I think, but there nothing displayed for the video, just a question mark icon. It seems that the Video module is the best choice, but it is in early alpha for 7.x and has some problems. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Hello. Just closing this thread. Talking with the support of the ISP my VPS server is. Good guys by the way. We could not find why I can not install a second instance , new one, of Drupal and having work. I will stay with my production instance of Drupa 7.2 working only. NO way to make a second one until now. Will have to look other instances of CMS unfortunately. Thanks to all for your help. Jorge Biquez

git_deploy & workflow

Hi all, Time was I checked out modules/core from CVS and used cvs_deploy to ensure correct version info. Now we've moved over to git, one should use git_deploy. However I notice that it's a) at dev, and b) has only a small reported number of live sites. Do folk feel git_deploy's ok for live sites? If not, may I ask what people are doing instead? As a related question, do people feel it's worthwhile checking out from source control rather than just getting via the packager? When I first started using CVS it was to simplify the update process. However I now know about drush update, and wonder if there's any real advantage to sticking with my old ways? TIA, Andy . . . . . . . direct path to user's content profile?

Hello all, I have a menu-item called "my profile" that should point to the content profile part of the currently logged in user. Is there a way to simply set this in the path property of the menu item? Using tokens? If not, what is the best way to do this? Any help greatly appreciated! Best, Toon

Error trying to install module in new site.

Hello all. I am installing another testing domain with Drupal 7. The first one is running fine with Marinelli and does part of what I want to learn to do. So I decided to have another site, for testing and leave the first one to improve things done under testing/developing. I installed without problems (version 7.0 , that is the one that install my server with CPanel) and ai decided to upgrade. By the way the upgrade oin 1st site was done fine and the site works fine apparently. After upgrading the second site and receive no errors (it was empty so I guess it should upgrade without problems) I decided to start configuring it by installing some of the modules I was using on the other. I tried installing TOKEN and PATHAUTO as I did on the other but this time I receive this error: --------------------------------- Error message The specified file temporary://filesTktdp could not be copied, because the destination directory is not properly configured. This may be caused by a problem with file or directory permissions. More information is available in the system log. http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/token-7.x-1.0-beta2.tar.gz could not be saved to temporary://update-cache-eda84aec/token-7.x-1.0-beta2.tar.gz. Unable to retrieve Drupal project from http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/token-7.x-1.0-beta2.tar.gz. --------------------------------- my guess is that when I uploaded the upgrade to 7.2 a permission of one directory that acts as temporary was affected... but I can not find which one. I have not tested in 1st one (let's name it "production one" but I guess could be affected also since the procedure was the same... - Any ideas of what to do to fix this? - Any other suggestion on checking production site ? Just a mysterious " request failed: error reading the headers", and a 403 in other log files. Again, this was working fine until I upgraded to 6.22. I think i was at around 6.12. events page in drupal 7

Hi all -- I have moderate exposure to Drupal 5 and 6, and am building a Drupal 7 site as a volunteer for a summer-long art project for kids. I could probably learn the info I need by spending hours reading the docs and playing in my sandbox installation, but the site needs to be up now, at least with bare minimum features, and my time is very limited. So I'm hoping for some suggestions to help me get this accomplished ASAP (and I *promise* to read the docs over the next few weeks!) I have a Main Menu item called Events. I have created a content type called Events. Each Events type node will need a start date, end date, description, and if possible option to include an image. When a site visitor clicks on Events all the Events type nodes should be displayed in Start Date order, sort of like blog posts added to a blog site. HOW DO I DO THIS? The problems I've run into so far are ... 1. When I made the Events main menu link, since I have no clue what path to give it, for now I just used node/add. What node should it be? There is no one Events "page", it will just be a list of events. 2. I don't see any Date field types in manage fields for the Event content type. How do I add date fields? 3. How and where do I specify that any node of the Events content type will appear when a visitor clicks the Events link? I thought of using Views (which would handle the sorting too) but I see that Views is still in Beta for D7 and I cannot afford to mess around with heavily buggy modules. Any opinions on the status of Views? 4. Should I be using Taxonomy instead of or in addition to Content Type to define which posts should appear under the Events link? I would think that the question "how do I list all content of a particular type under my menu link" is a FAQ but I can't find a simple page that explains it. Any pointers would be so appreciated!! kazar

Error with my first module

Hello, I'm tryin' to setup my first module. Created the .info and .module files on sites/all/modules/modulename, and start with a very basic block but when I enable th emodule it breaks my primary links menu (superfish menu). Here's the simple code on .module , any idea? Wich is the simplest way to debug this kind of problems?
