hi, i am setting up a job website, wherein we We want to post a list of frequently updated new job titles on a page and people should be able to select a job title and go to a link of the description, skills required, etc. I have created a "job description" content-type, which has these fields, for example: field_description, field_location, field_skills. I also want to create an entry form, so that our staff can enter available jobs into the system. I am not sure how to proceed. (i also noticed that when I view a test job description, at the bottom is "add new comment" link, which Idont want there, which brings up another question, which is drupal primarily for social networking?) Reduce Image Size before Saving

Is there a module that will reduce the size of images before saving them to disk? Imagecache saves the full image and then creates a smaller one--we want to only save the smaller image. Thanks.

Multiple question voting

Hi all. I have a rather specific set of requirements for a voting booth I need to assemble. Limited to a specific subset of authenticated users that can be fine-tuned, automatic opening/closing of voting at precise times, results private until the election is over, etc. Pretty much everything that advpoll does. It's almost perfect for what I need with one glaring exception. I need to allow users to vote on multiple questions at once. In that respect it's more survey-like (pick the best Foo; pick the best Bar; etc.), but webform is too, well, survey-ish for what I need. :-) It lacks the very-fine-grained permission control and timeframe control of advpoll, which I do need. Does anyone know of a way to make multiple advpoll questions appear together on the same form? Path trailing slash

Hi, The recent discussion about ".html" at the end of paths reminded me... I've been wondering about the reason why a trailing slash is not allowed in aliases created by the Path module. Sometimes when I land on a page deep in a website, I want to see more of what the website is about. So I go up a few folders manually... eg. I read www.example.com/articles/internet/whyinternetisgood.html, then I manually enter the following into the URL: www.example.com/articles/ in order to see the index page containing all the articles. This reflects the basic function of HTML/HTTP. Obviously Drupal doesn't work like that, under Drupal you would probably need to go to www.example.com/articles. I wouldn't mind being able to mimic the traditional functionality for users like myself that do "manual navigation". Any thoughts?

Image queries

Dear all, I think these are probably very simple questions, but I'm relatively new to Drupal and am totally blind, hence my asking for some help here. I am developing a basic website for a small organisation in Ireland. My questions are, 1. What steps to I take to replace the default Drupal logo or image with that of the organisation? The image is a Jpeg file and I'm using the default Garland theme. 2. It would appear, from my viewing the default image within the site, that it appears as a link. How can I stop it appearing as a link? 3. Finally, how can I add some alt text to the image so that it will have a proper description for people who can't access graphics? Any assistance is very gratefully received. Kind regards, Stuart Lawler.

Session problems

Hello, One of the clients using my site is complaining about the following problem: "During a class, my students registered and logged onto their community accounts. When they started to explore it and look at the 'Buddies' section, the website seemed to show them a buddy list from a random student, not their own." This is the "Buddies" plugin, running on Drupal 4.7. I first suggested that the previous pupil had not logged out properly, but the teacher confirmed that this wasn't the cause. This was the very first time that the students were logging into the system. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks.

upload : overwriting files

Hello Drupalers ! Simple question, but search & google didn't helped me : is it possible for a user to overwrite an upload file ? I tried to : 1. upload foo.txt (then submit) 2. delete foo.txt (then submit) 3. upload foo.txt (then submit) but on the third step, file is named "foo_0.txt" My users just want to update some pdf files wich public adress is widely distributed. Any clue on this ? Thanks. Pierre-Yves

Getting rid of ".html" suffix in URL?

I gave a URL for a page on my site (http://hyc.org/directions/car) to somebody to publish in their newsletter. They apparently decided they knew better, and "corrected" the URL to have a ".html" on the end, i.e. published "http://hyc.org/directions/car.html". Now they call me up saying their members can't get to our web site. Is there any way to make drupal treat the .html URL as an alias for the correct one? More generally, is there a way to make it do so for *all* URLs that end in .html? -- roy(a)panix.com
