[drupal-support] admin-only user profile items?

[drupal-support] Filling comment subjects automatically

By default Drupal fills missing subjects in the comments by copying the first few words. Can someone tell me how to modify the code so that instead the subject is auto-filled by adding "Re:" and taking the title of the previous comment? -HRose / Abalieno

Paul, You did backup your database before the upgrade, right? In that case, just dump that table in your old database with your preferred tool, such as PHPMYAdmin, then open the new database and empty the old table and re-enter the new data. If you actions corrupted the database (specifically that table) this issue should be solved. If it is still not working, it might mean the database structure of Drupal has changed somewhat. [drupal-support] Directory Module Bug

Hi, I am using the directory module to re-create the lost weblinks functionality. But even if i select the node types in the settings, they are still displayed at the directory. By definition, the selected node types should not appear in the directory. Seems like a bug in the directory module. Paul

[drupal-support] Replacing characters in all nodes

Hi all, Here at chintha.com, we have a not-so-common situation. At www.chintha.com we are using drupal for hosting a multi-language site. We have malayalam unicode and english content in the nodes and comments. Recently there is a change in the malayalam unicode character encodings. So 6 characters have new codes assigned to them by unicode organization. The new fonts for malayalam will be using the new encodings. If one user is using a new font, they will not be able to see the 6 letters, which have new encodings now. Eventually everyone is supposed to use the new encoding. The requirement now is to convert the characters with old encoding to the new encoding. How do i do a search for the old characters and replace with the new characters in all nodes and comments? Is it possible to do this in the database directly? Any comments/ideas/code snippets are greatly appreciated. thanks, Paul

Rob, I had a similar issue. What happened in my case is that I had the command to run as: http://www.team-projectx.com/cron.php instead of the var/home/www/teamproj/... [drupal-support] The search function is completely messed up

Right now this is my biggest issue with Drupal. The search engine is completely unusable. It's simply not possible to search for more complex strings like more than one word enclosed with " " or get useful results searching more than one word. The functionalities aren't the biggest problem, though. The search function on my site just doesn't work. Some nodes aren't getting indexed for some reason. The search page shows that: 100% of the site has been indexed. But this doesn't reflects the reality. Try follow this: http://www.cesspit.net/drupal/search/node/pann Then look at this: http://www.cesspit.net/drupal/node/747 As you can see that node isn't "seen" by the search system for unknown reasons. This happens frequently for a bunch of nodes both new and old. It would be nice if someone could start working on a decent search system that is actually usable. Being able to search using dates would also be appreciated. -HRose / Abalieno

Hi, I have implemented the search hook in a module I am writing, but I was wondering if someone has an example of the search implementation where I can search for more than one field. Currently I can "Enter your keywords" and that's it. I want to choose from a bunch of fields and adapt the query to match the selection. I can manage that if I know how to get the extra fields in the search form. I can't see anything in drupaldocs that gives me a hint as to how I can do this. Thanks in advance, Kobus
