Thanks.. by logging in and directly typing example.com/?q=admin/settings I've been able to reset the maintenance mode.

I must have done something silly in the install though, because I'm not getting any login/logout on the page, and I when i go to "administer" all I get is a log! I was expecting some sort of navigation.

Please forgive any stupidity, this is my first attempt at drupal.
