My customer wants to use 1and1 to host his site. I have the all the code and database uploaded. The front page shows up when I use the domain name 1and1 provided. But accessing anything else on the site gives a "500 Internal server error." The site works fine on my PC.
1and1 told me to delete the PHP settings from .htaccess and create a php.ini file with the PHP5 values. I did that and the error persists. Any ideas?

after you create the php.ini are you resetting apache from the console? Good luck, I've never liked them. I'd rather have a godaddy vsp. -Don-

I have no idea how to do that. And, of course, they didn't mention anything about it.
I don't think I'll use them again, but the customer set it up.

Have you checked the apache error log, generally that will have some clues in it.
