Hi all, I have a Drupal 6.8 installed in a windows 2003 pc with apache 2. In this it's no longer possible to make "update request". I think it's related to some new firewall settings. Which URL is invoked when I make an update request? Which port? And in general, which port and URL is better to "open" in a good drupal firewalled configuration (downstream)?
Thank you for all,
a

What do you mean "no longer possible"? Did you upgrade to apache 2? I suspect that you might have a mod security issue if it was working and now isn't.

I mean only that after someone have set a firewall, I have had these problems. I have the same version of apache, mysql and php. I'm almost sure that is a firewall problem, and I would like to make some test; for this reason I would like to know the urls and the ports called. That's all.
Thank you Earnie,

The port used depends on your conf settings for apache and mysql. Drupal doesn't use ports of its own. Check your apache and php log files for errors.

Hi all, probably my english is not so good and I'm not able to explain my problems. Please be patient I'm trying again. I know that in drupal I have a connection between my apache and mysql server, and I know the ports of both. My question is not about my servers. My question is which URLS and ports are called when I make an "update request" (/admin/reports/updates)? I know that I'm using my servers, my ports and my URLS, but I know too that I'm calling some external sites to have a report about the status of my installation?
What about this external sites (or site)?
Thank youi very much,
Andrea

The answer resides in the DRUPAL_ROOT/modules/update/update.module file.
