I am just curious. I don't think it is, but it's kinda funny. It's the only piece of content that isn't a node, isn't it?
Anisa.
No, lots of things aren't nodes. Users aren't nodes. User profiles aren't nodes. Taxonomies aren't nodes.
A block is a *view* of data, which could be a node or collection of nodes. It's not itself that data, but rather a rendering of it.

Users, profiles, and taxonomies are not pieces of content. Maybe. ^.^ But you can put content into a block... hm, well, OK, normally you don't have to define where a piece of content goes, so I see what you mean.
Thank you for answering my question!

Hi!
I have a problem with this block-user thing showing up in my sidebar. I only want the menu there and I haven't added it to sidebar block in the block settings, but still drupal can not help including it. When logged in it's only a name, but when not it's a whole login form, something I only want to have on the login page. Who do I get tis block out of my sidebar?!
thanks
Sten

Disable it on your admin/block page. Just remove the Enabled check for User login, and save.
Or if you only want it to show to logged out users, and disappear for logged in users, see the handbook for a php snippet that you can put in the custom php block visibility thingy.

Hi all!
When I create new blocks I want them to just appear on the nodes/sides after people have logged in. So that they are only visible for those who are logged into the site. I do not want these blocks to appear on the front side before people are logged in. How do I do this?
Best, Gina

Configure your block on the admin-->block page.
Under "Show block on specific pages," select the radio button for "Show if the following PHP code returns TRUE (PHP-mode, experts only)."
Enter the following PHP code:
<?php global $user; return ($user->uid); ?>

If you blocks to be nodes, use microcontent.module. That makes not only blocks nodes, but also the mission, footer etc. (so you can have PHP in your footer, for example). And it makes the footer a block too. And the mission a block. Complex? No, try it, you will see what I mean!
