What is the best shopping module for Drupal 6?
A couple that come to mind are Ubercart and e-Commerce.
Thanks,
John
Things are in flux and for Drupal 7 this may be changed, but for Drupal 6 I'd certainly favor Ubercart.

Does anyone know of a (dare I say it) better eCommerca application for Drupal 6 than Ubercart? Ubercart just continues to suck, IMHO.
I need a much more serious eCommerce package that actually can accommodate real-world business rules and diverse situations.
A lot of the code for Ubercart [+ extentions and mySQL tables] is so horribly written...
Yes: Ubercart is fine for a simple site that doesn't get complicated or require any custom coding. If if you go beyond the trodden path: beware!!

Sebastian,
For D6 Ubercart is the best we have in the Drupal ecosystem.

You can jump on board and help make it better.

Hi Shai,
Well, I know someone already rewrote the code for one of the extentions, I think it was either the discount or the rules system, but his code was not accepted into Ubercart 2 from 1... which was totally demoralizing and he then left the project. I've had other developers look at the code and balk too, but if code releases are not being adopted, its hard to expect anyone to spend the time rewriting parts of it from the ground up [which is what needs to happen on several aspects of it, attributes are also poorly constructed in the database, to name one more].
Ubercart team would really have to want to address this as a fundamental refactoring before it would make sense for anyone to want to commit serious time to the project.
Don't get me wrong, if you have a simple shop, and you don't ever expect to need to do some serious import/export work or need some complex business rules for non-"normal" activities [normal as defined by what Ubercart can do], then you are fine and Ubercart is adequate.
I've had to do an Ubercart 1 -> 2 upgrade with a Dupal 5 -> 6 conversion, and the client's product list of 500+ items is fundamentally limited. We (2 devs + myself] can't implement his needed business rules without rebuilding aspects of Ubercart from the ground up, and our client simply doesn't have the budget to fund such a massive endeavor.
Sad to hear nothing else is available for D6, I hope this will get addressed in the future, or that a different [more powerful/better architected] platform will be integrated.
Kindly,
S.

You might want to look at Magento: http://drupal.org/project/magento
Ubercart, I believe, is being rewritten for D7. So, I am hoping that will improve things.

On the contrary, I believe that Ubercart is being directly forward ported for Drupal 7 to be a functional match between Ubercart 6.x-2 and Ubercart for 7.x The main developer here is Lyle Mantooth who works for Prima Restaurant Supply.
On the other hand the brand new Drupal Commerce project - http://drupal.org/project/commerce - is being rewritten for Drupal 7. The main developer is Ryan Szrama of Commerce Guys.
It's somewhat worth mentioning that while it has had recent commits the http://drupal.org/project/ecommerce is not seeing movement toward Drupal 7 just yet.
Regards, Greg
Ubercart developers split recently, so there are now two projects: http://drupal.org/project/ubercart and the new http://drupal.org/project/commerce of Ryan Szrama
Magento is a third party integration, but is supposed to be a lot more powerful than Ubercart, but of course less integrated.

Right. Thanks for clarifying. I was referring to the commerce module being written by Ryan Szrama who was one of the original developer of Ubercart I believe. http://sf2010.drupal.org/conference/sessions/ubercart-drupal-commerce
