If you are going to be doing feeds with a lot of media, I would suggest running all your feeds through Feedburner and serving them from there. There is actually an option in there to have the iTunes/media tags added automatically, which is all done through Google. Even with them though, you will still get recommendations from the W3C.

The problem is people using pod catchers are not seeing any enclosures.

I knew that it wasn't ready which is why I pointed you to the issue. Dave Reid seems to be stretched too thin and his priorities are elsewhere. You could take the module and convert it posting a patch in the issue queue for others to use. See http://drupal.org/update/modules/6/7 for help with that. If you can't/don't code then you'll need to influence someone with a gift or contract for hire to do it for you.
