Dear all,
I'm wondering whether it's possible in drupal 6 to build a view of modules ? I know it's easy to see a list ofmodules but would still be interested in being able to build a view of installed ones so any pointer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ! Sherab.

I also have a small module that will eventually be added to the Util module that gives you a quick list. If you'd like to test it, let me know.

Dear Nancy and Neil,
many thanks for your prompt and helpful responses. Both modules you mention indeed seem interesting and useful ! To be more specific about my concern: I'd like to be able to get a list of just those modules that need to be updated. I know this information is available on the status page, but the way it is presented there is not convenient for me (I'm blind). Indeed, there all the modules are listed whether they are up-to-date or not. So when I receive a notification that new versions are available for some modules, I have to go through all the list to find out that just one or two modules need to be updated. Does one of the modules you mention, or another one, allow one to do such a thing ?
Thanks so much in advance for any help ! Sherab.

At admin/reports/updates/settings you can receive email when an module update is available. It requires you enter a list of email addresses you which to receive the mail. Also for D7 admin/reports/updates/update will give you a list of modules that need updated and nothing else.

Yes, and it's how I know there are some updates available. But the mail does not contain the list of modules to update...

Ah, D6 here... too bd but good to know things will be better under D7 with respect to this issue...
Cheers, Sherab.
There is a modue for D6 that lets you build views on modules (and themes). But I can't remember the name and I don't remember that it had a views field of update status (only version number). I think the views type it adds is called "Module/Theme/Theme Engine". Maybe this helps you to find it.
You could also do it with css: table tr.ok { display: none; }

Wel I already googled for that... unsuccessfully at the moment but good to know it indeed does exist! Thanks !

Well, not really actually because I'm using lynx which is not css-aware anyway...
Thanks ! Sherab.
Drush can help too if your results can be text based. Not sure if you need it for reporting reasons, but I usually "drush * | grep foo" to find out what I need quickly.

Yeah, a drush approach would actually be pretty cool and well suited since I'm working almost exclusively in text mode...
Will dig into this, thanks ! Sherab.
