It's been a while since I've needed to think about an image gallery, but on a site I am about to inherit, there are many images that probably should be in a hierarchy. When I go to D.O, it almost seems that most gallery modules are not available in 7.x and those that are are minimally supported if at all.
Which ones are decent and supported these days?
It's been a couple of years, but I used this for a client and remember it being pretty decent:

I think media and media_gallery are the way to go, escpecially if you plan to move to drupal 8 in the future. This is based on entities

Looks like media_gallery's future is uncertain. Beta8 was released in July, 2012 and the project is listed as minimally maintained, so I'm not sure if we'll even see a D8 version of the module. Given the popularity of the Media module and even Media Gallery, it would be nice to see it get some attention and someone create a D8 port.

A customer and i use https://www.drupal.org/project/ddblock a lot. Philip is great to work with and answering questions.
i've used BxSlider for a quick and easy too. https://www.drupal.org/project/bxslider_views_slideshow
Wowslider has lots of transitions but isn't integrated with Drupal. It's pretty easy to set up though.
Hey, Nancy — now you’ve got my interest! Please post which one you choose and why.
