Little bit of a strange request here. I have a customer (with a very limited budget, of course) who wants to combine several images into a single one, for display in a View Slideshow. An old version of MS Office had a Photo Editor that would allow me to sort of do that, but that was a few disk crashes back. I certainly can't afford Adobe Photoshop, which would probably be overkill, and probably out of his budget too.
Does anyone know of any free tools (installed or on the web) that can be used to stitch together more than one image into a single one?

There's also http://inkscape.org but I've never used it.

There is also one called Photoscape - http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php, used it quite several times.

This has nothing to do with sprites. Right?

Hi Nancy,
Go to Adobe.com and download the free trial version of CS5 (the whole package) or choose either Photoshop or Fireworks for a trial period of 30 days. No limitations.

May I add a variation to The Gimp: GimShop (http://www.gimpshop.com/) It's an adjusted Gimp to get closer to the way PhotoShop works. If you have experience with PhotoShop, this will be less of a battle. ;-)
Google Picasa also has quiet a lot of image adjustment and merging features. Well worth to check it out. http://picasa.google.com/
PaintShop Pro is also well worth to look at. It's packed with featured, has a trial version and costs only $49.99 USD. http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4130078

Not for me. The requirement is pretty low level: basically, they want a collage of various product images.

I use gimp most of the time (inkscape was mentioned, but that is a vector program like illustrator), but for small stuff (resizing, ...) I also use the free paint.net http://www.getpaint.net/

Looks like a gimp fork. Even used the same icon image which clued me in right away.
