I set up Open Atrium (along with Drupal) the other day and love it for a project management program. However, I've somehow messed up the file upload part. When I first set it up, I could and did upload files and they showed up correctly. However, now I cannot. I click the "browse" button, locate a file, click to upload it, the little ribbon deal moves, and then the file just isn't uploaded.
I've read all sorts of info on both Drupal.org and openatrium.com and I've fixed the file permissions for the file folder to 0777, I've tried both public and private for the file types. I've done everything I can think, and it still won't work.
Does anyone here have any exp with Open Atrium with Drupal who could offer some ideas?
Thanks!
Tina
Does it show any error? Can you check your drupal and apache logs to see if there are any errors there.

Check your File Upload paths as it's taken you first installed paths?

The “File system path:” is “sites/default/files” and I’ve set that to permissions 0777. I can see that is where the first file I uploaded (when it worked!) is, but now I can’t upload any more. I know I did some tinkering with settings after I installed the program (and AFTER I uploaded these files) in order to get some other stuff to work, but now I don’t remember what I did so I could undo it!
And Dipen, when I go to “administer/reports/Recent log entries” it doesn’t show any errors. It shows that I created a content comment (where I also tried to upload a file), but it doesn’t say there was any error at all. This appears to show all access to the site correctly as I know another user had tried to log in earlier and then remembered their info and was able to log in. This all showed correctly. Is there someplace else I should look for error logs?

I’m getting really frantic to try and solve this problem. Open Atrium works perfect in every way, EXCEPT I can’t upload any files or images (including the profile image). In the “attach files to this comment” [or blog or whatever] area I click “browse” find the file I want to upload, click to upload, and it shows a barber pole type deal moving and then no file is listed there. I click “save” and still no file.
When I click “administer/reports/recent log entries” There are no errors. It will show that I created a new comment or content or whatever I tried to attach an image to, but no error. If I try and upload a profile image I see “The changes have been saved.” At the top of the page, but no picture shows and NOTHING at all is reported in the “recent log entries” area.
Since my first email below, I did a totally new, clean install of Open Atrium and I can’t get ANY files to work. The first set-up I was able to upload files for a little while until I changed something (of course, I don’t know WHAT!) and then it stopped working!
Any assistance or ideas would be welcome!
Thanks,

I’m still unable to find a solution to this problem with Open Atrium. I’ve read posts, changed code, checked so many things. No errors show up in “reports/recent log entries.” It will show that I edited a comment where I also tried to upload a file, but no mention is made of an error trying to upload. It just doesn’t upload. When I try and upload a profile photo, nothing happens, and there’s no error and also no log entry for the try.
Anyone use this drupal set-up who can help me??

Nothing shows up in your php error codes? You might have to add some debugging code into it. Is error messaging turned on? I really don't know anything about Open Atrium, but you might try their forums, if they have some. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but being able to use error messaging to debug code is a very powerful tool. Do you do much coding, or is this more of a design project?

I know just enough about coding to be dangerous! IE, not much. I have been looking and looking at drupal forums as this appears to be a problem with drupal also for some folks uploading within drupal.
I did find, on my hosting server, the error log. Scrolling down, I found this:
[Mon May 23 11:37:56 2011] [error] [client 72.100.104.78] File does not exist: /home/25571/domains/mana.org/html/BrdAtrium2/test1, referer: http://mana.org/BrdAtrium2/test1/node/6 [Mon May 23 11:37:56 2011] [error] [client 72.100.104.78] File does not exist: /home/25571/domains/mana.org/html/index.php, referer: http://mana.org/BrdAtrium2/test1/node/6 [Mon May 23 11:38:12 2011] [error] [client 72.100.104.78] File does not exist: /home/25571/domains/mana.org/html/BrdAtrium2/test1, referer: http://mana.org/BrdAtrium2/test1/node/6 [Mon May 23 11:38:12 2011] [error] [client 72.100.104.78] File does not exist: /home/25571/domains/mana.org/html/index.php, referer: http://mana.org/BrdAtrium2/test1/node/6
I think that is related to my many attempts to upload a file to Open Atrium using the program. And, when I look at the folders using ftp, there are no files uploaded, so, of course, they can't be found to view. Something is dreadfully wrong with my upload process.
But, in drupal when I look at reports/recent log entries, it just shows that I added content (which I did, because I typed something generic into the "comment" box along with attempting to upload a file), but it has NO error for the failed upload.
Thanks! Tina

Have you set permissions on the 'files' folder correctly? I think the folder needs 777, if I recall. You could also have a quota problem on your server. It looks like the code believes you are actually uploading something, but something else blocks it. My suggestion would be to check permissions and if that doesn't work, look up these newly found errors using your most powerful Google Fu.
Good luck!
Joel

This could be a file size issue. If the file you are trying to upload is larger than the max file size setting, this scenario will happen.

Thanks! Tina

Try to FTP the file directly into the files folder. If it works, you can rule out any issues with server configurations.

I'd say, log on with credentials that don't have permissions and try to FTP the file, but that is more difficult. It doesn't rule out server config, but Nick's right, it crosses a lot of possibilities off the list, even with higher end permissions.

Thanks! Tina

Try to FTP the file directly into the files folder.
I'm not sure what this means? I can FTP anywhere I want using my FTP program. Or, did you mean using some drupal aspect?
I FTPed a file to the directory and then navigated to that file name in the browser, and it showed just fine, no errors.

If it works, you can rule out any issues with server configurations.

If you can upload the file to your "sites/default/files" directory using your FTP program and can navigate to that file in the browser, then this means that it is not an apache issue.

I have been trying to install this for a client on their hosting (media Temple). So, then I got the idea of installing (the same version) on my personal hosting and see what happens. Ok, thanks to you all. I finally got someone on my hosting support to answer me, and they said: "One thing that I've seen in your error logs is a number of 'Premature script headers' errors, especially during the install of the application. This happens when a PHP script errors out and fails to return any information to the Apache web server."
And, then he said we need to up our service with them to $1200/year!!!!!!!!! It works just fine on my $60/year hosting, so why do they need to charge so much?? Anyway, THANKS to you all for all your ideas. Tina

Check your File Upload paths as it's taken you first installed paths? On 12 April 2011 04:33, Tina Williams tina@words-etcetera.com wrote: I set up Open Atrium (along with Drupal) the other day and love it for a project management program. However, I’ve somehow messed up the file upload part. When I first set it up, I could and did upload files and they showed up correctly. However, now I cannot. I click the “browse” button, locate a file, click to upload it, the little ribbon deal moves, and then the file just isn’t uploaded. I’ve read all sorts of info on both Drupal.org and openatrium.com and I’ve fixed the file permissions for the file folder to 0777, I’ve tried both public and private for the file types. I’ve done everything I can think, and it still won’t work. Does anyone here have any exp with Open Atrium with Drupal who could offer some ideas? Thanks! Tina

I just tried on an OpenAtrium we use and it worked fine--simple as pie.
I think it's probably your host setup. On our host it works fine, out of the box--we never did any configuration--just installed it and it works.
