Hello, I need to put System File as private an place the files folder outside /. The webfolder full route is like /srv/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs I first created the folder files at the same level as httdocs and assigned the same owner as the original files folder, and changed the permissions to 777
I tried ../files I tries the full route /srv/www/vhosts/domain.com/files
All without luck, Drupal tells me the folder doesn't exists. Any idea? I'm on a dedicated server with root access.
Thank's for all! Pol Maresma

Could you add a link from within the Drupal site to the external folder? Something like:
ln -s /srv/www/vhosts/domain.com/files \ /srv/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/files
Hope this helps.
If I'm not wrong, with this solution the files folder will be public again?
Thank's for the response!

If I'm understanding this correctly, what you'll need to do is specify the absolute path (/srv/www/vhosts/domain.com/files) and then set the "Download Method" to private (Drupal serves the files instead of the webserver). These changes, by the way, are made on the admin/settings/file-system page...
Cheers, Jonathan
That's what I tried when I receive the error...
Thank's for respond!

Hmm...I'm not sure why this isn't working...what's the exact text of the error message?
Cheers,
Jonathan
The system says "The folder does not exist" I use locale so this is my translation, not exact message.
Thank's for all!!
