Hi,
In the modules download, find the frontpage.module for your particular Drupal version. This will be able to do what you want.

hi all!
Can someone point me how to change the layout of *just* the front page of my drupal site?
i want to put a flash-splash up on that page.
i dont want to replace the index.php file, as i would like to also incorporate some feeds and other drupal content - ideally maybe just use a different template for the index page... is there a way to do this? i doint want the normal themed drupal menus or anything to appear.
actually if i did move "index.php" would this break the whole rest of the drupal site? eg the URLs somehow rely on going through index.php to display?
thanks for any help!

tx for the tip. there doesnt appear to be any "frontpage.module" or anything that looks like it. there is node block and page.module, but assme these are more general components. any other ideas what the frontpage.module might be called/under? i dont know how to tell the drupal version, but i think it was 4.6 (3-4 months ago, with XML-RPC issues).
also, if i were to modify, what is the "hook" i modify for page display? i dont want any of the rest of drupals page rendering mechanism to output to the screen/buffer...

It's called 'Front Page'. That's what it's called.
Go to the modules page and scroll down to the one called 'Front Page'.
You will be able to spot it, because it looks like: 'Front Page'.

Gary - entirely unhelpful and rude. A slow reading of his support request makes it clear that he is looking in the entirely wrong place:

Mentioning "page" and "node" module is the clue - those don't exist anywhere but in a core download, and for him to see those visually somewhere would mean he's looking at admin/modules, not
http://drupal.org/project/Modules
as you think he is. Anyways, D_C, you want:

Get an email client that understands boundary delimiters.

We are both fighting the same war: you're rude to newbs, I'm rude to newbs who don't think they're newbs.

Idea:
Let's not. Or at least not each other. :)
Seriously, no harm intended to the OP (front page person), and even more especially not to you. Really.
I am a magnanimous, friendly, often-caustic-without-meaning-to-be and wide-open guy who likes to laugh (at myself, often and especially.)
No harm (intended), no foul (I hope.)
Over and out. -- Gary
(I don't really think we're rude, by the way. Either one.)

Look in the CHANGELOG.txt file in your Drupal installation's root directory. If it has "x.x.x, xxxx-xx-xx" as the version and date, then you have a pre-release version.

The Front Page module is what you want. Make sure you get the version that matches the version of Drupal you have installed.
