taxonomy_access, php input, and role id...

I found the taxonomy_access module (http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_access), which will almost do what I wanted for the home pages per user/role. When a user logs in, what variable when using php input denotes the role id? Or, is there even such a thing, since a user can belong to multiple roles? What I want to do specifically, is create a generic "downloads" page. When the user logs in and access the "downloads" page, the contents of the page is dynamically generated listing nodes he/she has access to as specified by the taxonomy_access module. I can sort of do this now by creating individual aliases for the taxonomy term, i.e. downloads1->taxonomy/term/X, downloads2->taxonomy/term/Y, etc. Ideally, I'd like to just have a "downloads" that lists term/X and/or term/Y depending on the user. I'm guessing I should be able to key off of the role id to dynamically generate such a page. Thanks for any tips and links. -- Jiann-Ming Su "I have to decide between two equally frightening options. Suggestions for themes

I'm creating phase 1 of a website redesign for http://www.baldingfordollars.org My testing site is here: http://www.davidgrant.ca/baldingfordollars As you can see I am using Friendselectric which I really like. I am going to start doing some tweaking, basically just changing the images used in the layout in order to change the colour scheme to match the original (they want to keep the original style for now so people recognize the site). In phase 2 they we will completely redesign everything from scratch (if phase 2 ever happens). Before I start applying small tweaks to friendselectric, are there any other themes which are equally nice and are CSS with no tables and 3 columns? I've tried a bunch, and have looked at them, but don't have the time to look at the implementation of each. Dave

Node Form Mod . . .

Is it possible to override the default form when creating or editing a node? I want to change the name of the Title field for a specific node type, not all node types. It looks like, based on node.module's node_form function that it is not possible, and in scanning http://drupaldocs.org, nothing is jumping out at me. Wrapping around a cgi script

Hello, I apologize for asking what may be a dump question or one that has been answered before, i have searched the archive and the web for an answer but maybe i am looking for the wrong terms, i can't find what I'm trying to figure out. I have written a cgi that generates html. I would very much like to make this cgi be a node in drupal, or if thats not possible maybe a "block"? I just would like to have my cgi generate the center of the home page with drupal blocks around it, and then any click on the drupal blocks replaces my cgi content with whatever would normally be there, and any clicks in my cgi remain in that area of the screen. Normally I would use a frame but everything I find about frames and drupal says "Dont Do It". Am I missing something terribly obvious, or is this impossible, or am I just slow today? Thanks for any advice -Aaron

If it's written in PHP, you could consider publishing it using the PHP Filter. It will execute the php embedded in a node. You'd still have to mod it so the "clicks" worked out right, but it might be doable. Much depends on the nature of the code you're executing. individual home pages for users?

How do I configure Drupal so that each user who logs is sent to a home page specific to them, or at least specific to a role that he/she belongs to? For example, if MyUser, who belongs in MyRole, logs in, he/she is shown the http://localhost/MyUser or http://localhost/MyRole page. Hi Setup 2nd new site based initially on bluemarine phptemplate in same way with same modules etc eg tracker on but although 'recent posts' link shows no posts are shown. Had originally created new template from scratch and placed code in appropriate places and all seemed to work ok except the 'recent posts'. Thought it might be something missing in new template so installed bluemarine but problem still the same. Can't see the difference between this install and first! Been through the forum topics and only found 1 ref to missing posts but not real answer except running cron which has been done. Any pointers would be helpful before starting again clean. regards RobiW

Contact module weirdness

Is the contact module in 4.6.5 broken? I enabled the contact forms for a few registered users but when I try to go to their contact pages, I am denied access (and I am the super user). Does anyone else see this behaviour? Thanks, David

Blocks in 4.7 : Content specific visibility settings

I just noticed the "Content specific visibility settings" area on block configuration page had disappeared. (the one that allowed to specify a block visibility according to a node type) Is there a way I can have the same functionnality : have block show up only for node pages of a given type ? I tried to use the php-mode visibility criterion, but no $node varable is available by the time the php expression is eval'd. Thanks for any suggestion. Yched

User File Space?

I'm helping a friend evaluate moving his website off of Windows/ASP to Linux/PHP. One of this functional requirements is as follows: THere is admin functionality that allows me to set up accounts (with passwords) that users can access to upload and download files (users have no access to each others files). files should be well protected (cant download just by knowing the location/name. need some mechanism to deal with duplicate file names (current site gives uploaded files a unique name if duplicate is found ... user only sees the name he typed in though).
