Also, it wouldn't cover cases when initial content is generated in some other way. The right solution is that each CMS finds its own way to accept content from the command line, and nothing more. Then you can do pipelines the right way, that is putting together your own pieces. A monolithic ooo -> drupal plugin would NOT be a solution. The ooo lists already receive "how can I blog directly from ooo to X" every other day, with X a different blog/CMS platform every time ciao, O.

But I am also a member of other multi-author portals ran exactly like you say, done with Drupal, SPIP, Plone and others. Each site with different needs, each already existing (=I can't have it changed to drupal), each with its _own_ darned version of the text editing interface..., all mutilated, different buttons or names for the same task, different spelling checkers (= I have to re-define an acronym or custom term in ANY CMS I have to use, all while I did the same in OpenOffice years ago...) > Multiple people editing multiple text files on > their client side and running scripts that directly > import them into the system. I have the drupal handbooks bookmarked and printed out. I am using them daily these days. I consider their quality (as one ORGANIC, COHERENT corpus of usefully interrelated information (*)) pretty low, and a good example of what I am saying: even if the single authors are good and committed, they are limited from their tools: the current generation of CMSs is not designed for (what I consider) serious, continuous work. I don't remember if I already said it, but I am sincerely enjoying this discussion, it's not my intention to troll, and I don't mean to whine or make a joke of anybody's hard work. I am just saying that the quality and usefulness of Drupal and other tools, while very great, is not exactly what is commonly perceived: I like what I am learning through this discussion, which is really helping me to understand several sw design concepts. It's not an ideal world; it is what, as I said in the other answer, what we already do with email. Formatting Blocks?

I've using Drupal for a while - I think it's fantastic! Question: Is there any way to control the location/format of blocks such as "Search"? When I elect to have it placed in the header it takes up a bit more than double the horizontal space (I think) is required. The Theme that I've chosen is PushButton so all blocks are indicated by a header Square (Left justified) with the White Arrow within (arrow pointing to lower right), a separating line under the square, then the contents of the block (menu, Search form etc...) It would be great if you could control the formatting of the block segments (eg: Making the header Square very small or even eliminating it, or maybe forcing the content of the block to Right Justify? etc...) Any suggestions, or are these based on the Theme and therefore it is what it is? Thank you Cosmo

I disagree here. I don't think the intended *number* of authors matters at all. What I see is that Drupal, Wordpress, and basically every blog/cms I know of is implicitly designed for author(s) who publish (very) short texts, only once in a while. I will try to hack mailhandler now (already asked privately for suggestions to the maintainer, hope he'll answer). Any other pointer, comment, mailhandler patch, etc... is still very welcome of course. TIA, O.

create company website using drupal

I'm new on drupal. I want to use it to create a normal company website which with a navigation bar including links like for example about us services products solutions contact us All contents of the about is only administrate and create by company's web adminisatrator therefore it's not necessary to show a "user login" for people to registeration. Then I first create a "About us" but every time I access the site e.g. http://www.mycompany.com It will display a "user login" block if browser session is not logged in. How do I configure such that anonymous people just browse the website's contents I created without showing the "user login"block I found some show cases developed using drupal, they don't present with a user login block http://www.latuk.com/ http://www.tacticaltech.org/ how they did it ? ps. the layout something like http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11300/11346-b.jpg you can see that this type of website is not necessary to provide user registration function

I need help with upgrading The Daily Gotham

Sorry I am sending this out on a Sunday, but it's the only day I have had to take care of this. I am trying to upgrade from 0.8.0.3 which is running on Drupal 4.5 to either the latest CivicSpace or the latest Drupal 4.6. I can't upgrade to 4.7 because there are modules I am using that have not been upgraded to that distribution. Here's what I did : After reading most of what is in the pages under http://civicspacelabs.org/home/faq/installation?page=1 http://civicspacelabs.org/home/faq/installation?page=2 http://civicspacelabs.org/home/faq/installation?page=3 I followed the instructions at http://civicspacelabs.org/home/upgrade This is what I did : 1. Copy dailygotham.com to dailygotham_upgrade 2. Copy liza_dailygotham to liza_dailygotham_2 3.
