Hiding "Create content" link from Anonymous users

Hello, Early on when we were setting up our Drupal site, we broke up the default menu structure and placed the "Create content" menu in the primary links menu. Our problem has been that now "Create content" will not hide itself for anonymous users, even though they do not have access to create any content types. Has anyone run into this problem before? Could anyone suggest a solution? We are using Drupal 5. Neil Goodman

Import HTML, XLS, UTF and MySQL

I am using this Drupal module: http://drupal.org/project/import_html and it works well. I had to edit the XLS transformation file extract both the STYLE and BODY tags. This all works fine. The issue is that I need to surround the STYLE and BODY code with STYLE and DIV tags to make the HTML usable. I tried to insert <style> in the XLS file but none of these work: <style> <style> <style= The first generates an error b/c it's read as a tag. The second two are taken literally, and not parsed. I put the above texts inside of an <xsl:text> tag. I couldn't figure out how to get the output to be <style> so instead I wrote a PHP script to look through the DB, extract the code, do a preg_replace and __STYLE__ for example, and replace that with <style> and then update the DB. This actually works fine. The only PROBLEM is that there are UTF characters (Hebrew to be specific) in the data and when I run my PHP script, it converts them to garbage question mark signs. I have PHP 5 and MySQL 5 on my Win 2K system. Can anyone suggest a way either to get <style> to come out of the XLS or to update the DB via PHP without losing my UTF chars? Thanks, Fred

Configure a module before it's enabled?

Is there any way to configure a module *before* it's enabled? I just turned on the path module. I noticed that as soon as it's turned on, anybody is able to create path aliases. It was easy enough to reconfigure it to only allow admins to do that, but for a short while (between the time I enabled it and got to configure it), it was open to anybody. For this, it's no big deal, but in general, it seems like a bit of a security hole. There should be some way to enable the configuration of a module before it's really turned on. Or is there, and I'm just missing it? I'm running drupal 5.7. -- roy(a)panix.com

confirmation email in plain text?

hi there, so we're on 5.3. users get a confirmation email when they register, but it's in html, and that's not good. so how do we set it to send out the confirmation in plaintext? thanks! -- will

drupal blogs on blog search engines?

hi all, we have blogs set up on our site www.theicarusproject.net and they are quite active. however, they show up on regular search engines, but not on blog-specific search engines. any ideas about this? thanks! will hall

Referencing images / multimedia content

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to reference images and other multimedia content from a page in Drupal. I'm building a large multi-language site in Drupal 6 (about 7 languages, will expand in future). It's a business-style site rather than a community-style one, so the pages are reasonably static and will generally be originally implemented by web designers. Non-technical users will complete translations of pages and also small updates, fix typos etc. How do I reference pictures that are related to a certain page (as opposed to part of the theme)? I understand I should store them in sites/sitename/files so I could reference them with src="sites/sitename/files/pic.jpeg", but it would make more sense to reference them using the PHP function file_directory_path(). However, if I embed PHP code into the page then the non-technical users are not able to edit the page unless I allow them to save PHP code. Does this all make sense? Am I working in the right direction? What should I do? Thanks, John

Altering user registration page?

cache tables?

There are a lot of cache related tables in the database. Is there a list somewhere of which ones can be emptied safely, or can they all? Here is a list of the tables I am seeing and the number of rows: cache 3 cache_block 33 cache_content 403 cache_filter 56 cache_menu 2 cache_page 0 cache_views 11
