I am trying to upload files using form api in my module and I dont want to use the nid.. I have attached the ".module " file what I have coded... I have refered the drupal's core module-upload module n and have reached the coding to the current extent. When I click on the button " Click here to attach the file", I get error "An HTTP error 0 occurred. /testing/fileattach/js". Please help me . -- *Cheers ** *

ecommerce & drupal 7

*Hello,* I'm looking to create my first ecommerce site and could use some direction (books, tutorials, videos, etc.) I also intend to build the site as a D7 site. It looks like there's a reliable Ubercart release for D7 - but I've also been reading about Drupal Commerce, and I'm finding it confusing figuring out which would be a better route to take. The site I'd like to create would start out with about 20 (physical) products organized into about 5 categories. Over time I'd like to double that (40+ products / 10+ categories). I'd need to take credit cards & track inventory, sales and shipping. My php skills arent too great, but I'm not scared to get my hands dirty. I'm hoping somebody can give me some suggestions on which ecommerce solution to take (ubercart ordrupal commerce), what I'm in for, and some good resources. My first ecommerce site is a little intimidating.. but it's time to get one under my belt! *brendan*

Best Way to Handle Event Content Type(s) for Handling both time bound and "all day"

Supportive Drupallers, I'm building a calendar for a client in D6. Some of the events are "all day" (though I add a theme function override to make the "All Day" disappear). Some of the events have beginning times and no end times, and other events have beginning and end times. I could simply use one content type and one field. I would have to *instruct users* to put "12:00 AM" for the start time and leave the end time blank. But frankly, that is a horrible user experience. For entering dates *without times*, I desire to use the input format which only offers a date for data entry; no time field is available. (Why isn't there an input format that has a checkbox for "all day." Didn't the old event module have that? Am I missing something?) Assuming that there is no "all day" checkbox AND that I don't want to ask users to manually enter "12:00am", I have two choices: 1. Create a *second content type* "All day event", use the *same field, *but use the all day input format on one and a format that allows for time entry on the other. 2. Keep only *one content-type*, "Event" and add a second field to it, "All day event" As I write this I'm thinking that #1 is a much better choice. Though I hate having too many content types, it just seems so much clearer for the end user. And they truly are different types. In option #2, there are two available fields, and the end user has to pick the right one and skip the other; one will always be empty. That doesn't seem like good information architecture. And I can imagine instances that would be quite problematic in Views if I want to combine timed and all day events in the same View. Am I correct? Two content types with one field is best for my requirements? Am I missing the "check if all day event" functionality that I'm somehow blind to. Thanks in advance for your help. Shai

Formatting embedded images with media module and wysiwyg

Hi, I've made a start on a drupal 7 website. I want to use the media module for handling all images on the site, but the integration with the wysiwyg module isn't as good as I had hoped. I can add images to a wysiwyg text box using the media browser, but the formatting options are very limited. E.g. there's no option to align images left right or centre, set the borders, or to freely change the image display size. There is a list of preset sizes, but this doesn't give much flexibility when laying out a page in the editor. The normal add/edit image button doesn't seem to work with media module images. I'm wondering if I've missed a module or config option I need, or if this is something that's being worked on? If it is, can anyone give me a rough idea of when it might be ready? I'm not in a desperate hurry, but I'm hoping to bring the site live some time over the next couple of months. Thanks, andy baxter.

Drupal 7 fails to install on PostgreSQL

Hi, I've tried to install Drupal 7 on 2 separate systems using a PostgreSQL 9.0 database backend, and both times it has failed at the same point. The error message in the PostgreSQL logs both times is: ERROR: null value in column "rid" violates not-null constraint STATEMENT: INSERT INTO role_permission (rid, permission, module) VALUES (NULL, 'administer blocks', 'block') I followed the instructions in INSTALL.pgsql.txt, and everything else installs up to this point. Does Drupal Run in 64 bit Ubuntu Linux Machine

Hi All I wanted to install Drupal 6 / Drupal 7 in a 64 bit Ubuntu machine. Just wanted to check if Drupal is compatible with 64 bit Ubuntu Linux machine. My machine's hardware profiles are - --------------------------------------------------- 1. CPU intel core *i5* 650 boxed 3.2 ghz socket 1156 2. MB intel P55 Chipset *DH55P* J Boxed 3. HDD WD SATA 2Tb 64MB cache With above hardware profile, and Ubuntu 10.04 (*64 bit*) linux environment, I am planning to install Drupal6/7. If somebody has already done it , please share if you faced any problems. Also in a 64 bit ubuntu linux machine, which webserver is recommonded. I found some people using XAMPP. Is it the best one or you have someother recommondations. Load on web server will be high, at high load, I am looking for high performing webserver. Best Regards Kamal

Software license generation

Hi. I'm building a store (Drupal 6.20, ubercart.) and want to sell software licenses for students playing an online educational game. The current system (all in shockwave) uses md5 encoding with the salt including a course name and the registrant's email. So, each user or course that is registered gets a unique license. I have considered two possible approaches: 1) Drupal itself generates the license, based on the user's email and the course title they enter. or: 2) I send them to my other app to generate an ID code and they enter it when they purchase a license. With approach 1, the advantage is better Drupal integration and a more streamlined user experience. There would have to be either a separate page where the user enters a course title and instructor email, or integration with ubercart in some way. With approach 2, Ubercart still has to provide an entry field for the ID code and store it on the database, so my app can retrieve it and verify that the purchase has been made. I would verify the license from code within my game. I am expert with the game code (Shockwave), but not with Drupal and PHP. So, option 2 might be easier to implement as long as I can add the field to ubercart. Then, as I become more familiar with Drupal coding, I can integrate it better. Does anybody have any suggestions of modules that might help. The "Ubercart license keys" module seems to rely on pre-existing keys not ones generated from user input. can't upload image in D7

Hi, I am new to Drupal and want to set up a site using Drupal 7. I have a test server in my office as a sandbox and I'll use it to build a small site similar to the public one that will ensue. I tried uploading an image to my first page and can't. The image is a small .jpg; it shows up fine in nautilus and seems as if it should work, but every time I get a pink error rectangle telling me the file could not be uploaded. There is already text content on the page that I provided, so it doesn't seem as if it ought to be a permission issue, but after trying several images I get the same result every time. The error message is not very informative, just saying that the image didn't upload. I don't know where to look for more information, references welcome. Using the Zen theme. Ubercart: how to use different shipping methods for different classes *all in one order*?

Hi all, I'm using Ubercart and I have three types of products, each with their own flat rate shipping quote rules: 1. base price of 5, product rate of 0 2. base price of 0, product rate of 0 3. base price of 0, product rate of 1 The difficulty is that if one order has products from different types, then the shipping is cumulative. For example, if I order two products from each category, the total would be 7. I can set up the individual shipping methods fine, I just don't know how to tell Ubercart to add the results together to form the shipping total. I imagine I could inelegantly hack something together that would work. Perhaps it'd work if I made two shipping methods, one with a base price of 0, the other with 5. Then I give each product its appropriate product rate on the product edit form (the same for both shipping methods) and use conditional actions to make sure the appropriate shipping method is used. But seems a bit naff imho. Seeing as Ubercart has such a nice way of representing each of these shipping methods individually, it'd be great to just tell it to sum them up.
