Scope of user-defined content type field identifiers

Drupal 7.4 Seems a bit wierd to me - field identifiers/labels on out-of-the-box content types behave as local to the content type - i.e. one can have the same identifier on fields in different content types (such as Title and Body example). And when I create a new content type I get these local names for free. Yet when I try to re-use names in different content types Mr. "don't do naughty things" says "you can't do that because the name is already in use" - i.e. user-defined field names behave as if they are global. Is there some reason for this and any way around it ? Its quite limiting having to artificially choose different names for the same thing in different records (for example if I'm using a Tag field with its own vocabulary in more than one record - if I want to define a content type that has a Tag field I can't unless I call it something else because the name is in use). I'm a bit of a drupal newbie but learning fast. andy

Drupal 7 installation on Win2k3 R2 SP2 fully patched - no joy

All, Just joined the list - I've been tasked with installing this for and evaluation against DNN with the winner being selected for both our internal and external web presence. I followed the directions at http://drupal.org/node/1130898 on a fresh VM from scratch, as noted in the subject line. The only variance I introduced in the install process is that I installed SQL Server Express 2008 R2 beforehand. However, when I visit http://localhost/DrupalTest on the machine, I get a 404 error. Nothing I've tried seems to work, including an explicit browse to http://localhost/DrupalTest/install.php, stopping and starting both the web site and the w3svc, among other things. I don't see anything in the event logs showing installation errors, and my my google-fu may be weak, because I'm turning up nothing in my searches on teh intarwebs. I also checked the web log, and it shows a 404 for the attempts as well. The only things that I note that might provide clues (I'm not an IIS guru) are that: o- PHP is not referenced for either the site or the virtual directory under Properties/Home Directory/Configuration/Mappings as an extension, nor is there an ISAPI filter of any sort for the web site. and o- Browsing to http://drupal.domain.tld from my own desk produces an "Under Construction" page, vs. http://drupal.domain.tld/install.php, which produces a 404 error. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? Thanks, Kurt

Upgrading template from 5 to 7 problem

I have moved a custom template from a Drupal 5 installation and added it to a bare bones Drupal 7 site. I've run into a few issues, of course, but the most vexing for me right now is the inability to get the main content to show render($page['content']); Doesn't produce any output. Here's the line of code in the template file: <?php print render($page['content']); ?> If I go to the user login page, for example, it doesn't show the form. I can get the tabs to show. Doing a quick top-level dump of $page['content'] produces the following: system_main => Array #sorted => 1 #theme_wrappers => Array #region => content #printed => 1 #children => Any hints greatly appreciated. OG Read Only module to allow post the content with out promoting the member as group admin.

Hi, OG Read Only module presently blocks the content creation in group for its members who are not admins of that group . I need a functionality which gives allow the few users to post the content even though they are not group admins. How I can achieve this ? which functions need to be changed . One more thing How to make this Og Read only Content type settings to come in separate configuration menu rather than in content type creation or group creation page. Suggestions welcome.Thanks In advance.

Secure Pages

I have a drupal7/ubercart3 site. The Securepages module does not work and my preferred uc_ssl does not have a Drupal7 version. For now, I've made the full site secure (https://) via .htaccess. How do I get all page resources (ie: images) to come from 'https://'? Apparently Chrome will not show a "Green padlock" next to the URL unless all page content has the "https' secure url. You will see a https with a red line through it, and an 'x' on the padlock. I have the base_url in my settings.php set to https://mysite.com .. that has not affect. Thanks,

Orienting Users around Groups

Greetings, I'm trying to setup a site where the defining feature for users is groups. It's straightforward to use OG to assign content to groups, but (beyond content access) most user functions still orient around users' roles. Is it possible in a reasonable manner to reduce this focus on the role and assign things like profile visibility and user contacting permissions based on groups? Thoughts? Brian

I have now worked out where my front page comes from, it's generated by the Views module, I couldn't find it originally because Home » Dashboard » Site building » Views was disabled. So the page is basically created by a Filters entry in the View with various Taxonomy entries to enable users to select what they want and a Node to generate the data. The problem I'm seeing is that the Taxonomy filter entry on screen isn't 'folding away' as it should. This has happened since updating Drupal core from 6.16 to 6.22 and updating all the modules to get rid of many security warnings. viewing content added by date

On the standard D6 admin panel, looking at /admin/content/node I see content arranged in order of being added/modified--the first item I see will be the node most recently added or modified, and so on down the stack. Is there an easy way to view nodes by "date added"? I am trying to get a sense of how much content of each different type has been added to our website over the past year. ari
