Trying to create a search form which allows users to input criteria and then displays matching nodes

Hello, We are building a website for a car dealership. We have created a content type for inventory which allows the administrator of the website to enter in individual vehicles as inventory. Now we would like to add a feature where a client can search through the inventory. For example, if a client wants to see all cars that are made by Honda, or if a client wanted to search for cars withing a particular price range. Ideally we would like to be able to display the search results with views, but can hard code the page to display the different nodes if necessary. I understand that I am going to have to make a custom form. From what I understand, the best way to go about this is to take what the client inputted, and use that information to get the form to query the database, then display the nodes which match the criteria. However, I am a little fuzzy about the details. Has anyone set up anything like this before, or does anyone have any advice on the best way to go about doing something like this? You might look at the Pageroute module too, http://drupal.org/project/pageroute. > Before you write a custom module, have you looked into the multistep module? > Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do, but it does a nice job of separating submission forms into multiple stages.

Retrieve a node in a template file

Hi all. I have a template file. I need to load a node of content type X (cck based), where I know the content type and a field value of this content type, and the field is part of cck's fields. Is this possible only via view or there is another possibility, without the use of db_query ? (with db_query I can get the nid and via node_load I can retrieve the node). Tnx. Good day: I would like to create a multistep registration process. I thought that the content_profile registration module could pull it off, but it seems that it just adds all of the different profile nodes together, to create one huge registration form. I am looking for a better way. So, I am contemplating writing a custom registration module, with forms which save their data in the CCK content_profile fields, because I still like the way content_profile handles the fields after they are populated. However, I am no expert with either Forms API, or with module authorship--I am working from these: http://drupal.org/node/262422 and: http://drupal.org/node/344795 However, I know not how to manipulate the CCK content properly behind the scenes. Can someone point me to a good reference, set of examples, etc.? The first link above does no database work whatever, and while I am competent with PHP, I am not confident with drupal internals yet. show block in some views and content types

Blank page in a imported site

Hi all. I'm trying to import a site from Postgresql to mysql. I have converted the db structure, and imported the data. I can see some part of the old site, but for now my preoccupation is to resolv a blank page when I go in /admin section. No error online, no error on apache and no error for php. Any help ? Views: select list in a exposed filter: how to get the keys value

Hi all. I have a view with a field that is a cck select list's field and the value of "allowed values" of this field is get from a costum module function. All works. Now I want to link this field to another view, so I have choice "Output this field as a link" but the only value of "Replacement patterns" is "[field_producer_value]", but this is the name that I see online (say the "value" in an array) while I need the "key of the array" because the other "view" accept the key and not the value. In the second view I have choice the same field (field_producer_value) for exposed filter or for argument, but the result is the same. Nothing is found because the first query send the value (say: "pippo") while the second view want the key (say: 10). Permissions are driving me crazy

Maybe it's because it's 1am, but permissions just aren't behaving the way I think they should. I'm trying to prevent an authenticated user with no other roles from being able to delete the content that they create. The nodetype is an Ubercart product with a number of CCK fields and fieldgroups. The "authenticated user" column in permissions has only these boxes checked: access site-wide contact form access content search content create enrollment products (enrollment is the name of the product class) "delete own enrollment products" is NOT checked. Neither is "edit own enrollment products" Admin users have all the boxes checked. I even installed the access control module, and set the "authenticated user" to be only allowed to view this content type, not edit or delete even their own. No effect. plain ol' authenticated user with no other roles can build a new product, then go back and delete it. Which is what I don't want to happen. Is there something about Ubercart that overrides permissions? I suppose I could use CSS to hide the "delete" button. Admin users could still delete content through the content list. Still, seems like this is not behaving the way it ought to. Maybe after I sleep a while it will become clear. Or maybe someone out there reading this knows some permissions voodoo. Expose filter node type

Hi all. I have a view with an exposed filter of type "node type". I have check what type of node I want to use (say my_content1 and my_content2) and I have check that the only items presented to the user will be the ones selected (my_content1 and my_content2). My only field is node's title (linked to its node). When I load the view's page (so without choice the content type my_content1 or my_content2) I see all nodes' title of all nodes type (blog, page, story, my_content1, my_content2). So I have add again a node's type filterl, choice the same content type (my_content1 and my_content2) but without exposing it. And now it works like a I want. But why this ? Is this normal ? How to display gmap location in a node.

Hi all. I have installed gmap, gmap location and location modules. I need to insert a gmap into my node. And I don't want to insert it like a block that is displayed always at the bottom of the page.I want to display it into a fieldset section. But for the moment the only think that I see is a text with locations, like: Location /pippolandia/ Italy 45° 26' 49.65" N, 9° 12' 28.4976" E Where is my error ? Tnx.
