Reorganizing for my classes

Durupal 6.8 Hello, I need help on reorganizing my site for my classes before the new semester begins in a week. I have bought Bills book (thank you Bill for responding to my questions), joined Drupal Edu group, installed OG and accompanied modules, looking around for answers for a few days but I am not finding the solutions. To tell you the truth, I am so confused myself I even don't know if I can make clear questions here. Last semester, I built a Durupal 6 site for a class I taught which has 4 sections - 4 groups of classes on one subject. I didn't have OG. I simply tagged students by sections with profile module. This coming semester, I will be teaching the same subject for 2 sections, plus a new class with brand new subject. Before too late, I have to reorganize the site. OG seems to be the only way but it hasn't worked well for me yet. First, I need to re-categorize Fall 2008 students aside, which I did with profile module. The list of the former students won't be updated so I don't need to worry about them right now, but what's next for the new students is unclear to me. There will be 3 classes: Class_1 Section A Class_1 Section B Class_2 I guess Class_1 is one OG, and Class_2 is another. What is the best practice to organize the students? One very confusing part of OG is that OG is based on content type. I don't know how to separate Section A and B in OG even after installing og_subsection module. Or may be I don't need to separate them? Should I separate them with profile? Next, but a bigger problem: How do I make existing nodes into OG? I haven't been able to find the answer. Help! I need to reuse the pages - class plans, assignments, review for exams - for the same class subject. There are quite few things I need to update, however. This is due to updated Syllabus. This means I need to leave the ones I created for last semester intact because the former students still access them. Video Module

Happy New Year! Drupal 5.11 - and I am no PHP guy :-) As you can see on this page: http://anonemusic.com/xmas_2008 the thumbnail opens Thickbox instead of the link to the node. I'd really appreciate if someone could direct me to the right direction how to fix this. I have been frustrated with this quite sometime. The node type gives no access to each field, which causes the same problem on views. If they did, I could assign link to video_thumbnail. I attempted teaser template, which failed miserably :-( Granted, the video module has not been updated quite sometime, and posting questions there have not been responded. On top of that, I have not been able to update Drupal 5.11 because every attempt brakes that thumbnail, and I don't know how to fix it except restoring from the backup. I should forget video module, but I can't. I have tried JQ Media with SWF Tools and Embedded Media Field. So far none gives me the option to overlay an image, the video_thumbnail per video. The flv is displayed black with white triangle. Embedded Media Field also won't work with external file. The project page indicates custom_url is only experimental, but all of my video files are on my mac.com server which is faster for video. If I try external file, the node displays nothing, while embedding YouTube works fine. Documentation/Support for OpenID login in 6.x?

I'll preface all the rest of this by saying: maybe I'm just dense. PLEASE this is NOT a request for anyone to fix my issue. This is a request to find the information so that I can fix it myself. I am NOT accusing any Drupal code of having any bugs and I am NOT blaming my issues on anyone. I just want to be able to find out where I should be reading for more information. I'm on Drupal 6.8 here and I'm receiving user complaints that OpenID login is not working. I did some searching on the messages one of them received and found information about this very issue on the 5.x version of the module. There's a patch there, but it's not a patch for 6.x. I have so far failed to find any information about the OpenID module since it got rolled into Core, except for mentions and requests for modifications to this 5.x patch for use with 6.x, all in the page for the OpenID module which, of course has no mention of 6.x or any ability to mark an issue or support request as being for a 6.x version. Drupal.org search doesn't provide anything about the new Core version of the OpenID module. Not in the first four pages of search anyway, but I'd hope that I wouldn't have to dig that far to find documentation about the current version. Any pointers as to where I should be looking and where I should be asking and describing my actual problem if that fails? Obviously I must just be dense. Because I know no one working on Drupal is stupid enough to think that modules that get rolled into Core no longer have questions or issues. I really must be overlooking something obvious, but I've been overlooking it for about four hours a day for the last three days, so I'm gonna be "that guy" and ask the stupid question. Shares a term with... in a View

Happy new year, everyone! For our first support request of the year, I offer this bit of Views 2 weirdness. I have an Organic Group node type, Board. I have a node type Rank, which is not in an OG. I have a node type Character, which is always in an OG of type Board. I have a taxonomy vocabulary "Rank set", which applies to both Characters and Boards. I have a nodereference on Characters that points to Rank nodes. I am trying to create a View to be used to restrict the available Rank nodes in the nodereference field. This View should restrict to Rank nodes that *share* one or more terms in vocabulary "Rank set" with the OG that it belongs to/that is the current OG context. That is, if there are 4 terms and a given Board has 2 of them, then only those Ranks in one of those two terms should be included in the View. I'm unfortunately a bit stumped as to how to do that. So far I've tried adding a relation to a group node and then a filter on the taxonomy term of that group node relation, but that does nothing (or else filters out everything if I make the relation required). Update Status Doesn't Work for Login-Toboggan after Upgrade

Gang, This is just annoying... Logintoboggan doesn't show up in the update status report. Otherwise it seems to be installed fine. It shows up on the module menu and its configuration screens work. This problem ocurred after I upgraded logintoboggan from 6--1-2 to 6--1-3. My method, for various reasons, is that for modules I use CVS but I delete the old version and add the new version instead of using the update command. I have the whole thing wrapped in SVN. Don't know if this is at all relevant. Any ideas? Shai

Theme Function For Adding jQuery

I want to create a function in my template.php that will set a different banner for certain pages by modifying the background property for the div with jQuery. The jQuery is pretty easy (I would just add it using drupal_add_js()), but what I can't figure out is how to call it from template.php. Can I just create my own function in template.php that calls drupal_add_js()? Or do I have to use a hook? I need to have the current URL available to the function. My first thought was to use a preprocess hook, but it seems that the preprocess is for adding variables, not this. If I wanted to write a module I could do something like hook_init, but I don't want to have to do a module for something small like this if I don't have to. Thanks Steve

Contact.module mail issue D6.8

Newbie here so apologies in advance if this is the wrong venue to ask this. I couldn't find a contact.module issues page. It may be a system mail issue anyway because I also had problems with mail-related modules Mime Mail and SMTP. When I send a test mail from the contact form on my test site, it arrives ok, i.e, with plain text message displayed in message body. When I send from production site with same contact form config, not ok. That is, the message arrives with nothing in the message body and with empty attachments. Test site is a subdomain of the production site on the same server, same codebase (Drupal 6.8). The only difference in the message headers seems to be in the content-type. Test site message content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed; delsp=yes Production site content-type: multipart/alternative; charset=utf-8; boundary="0a99274a7e9d0d3f848edc5aabb774d9" I had possibly related problems trying to work with Mime Mail and SMTP modules.... Mime Mail could not send html emails properly to Outlook 2007 exchange. The messages would arrive with a lot of code in the message body and the html in an attachment. Worked ok in gmail and yahoo. SMTP could not connect to the smtp server on bluehost.com. Bluehost confirmed my settings were correct. Copy/pasting same html from drupal sites to my phplist on bluehost.com and sending works perfectly. FAQ module: how to edit questions?

I have installed FAQ module, with pathauto, and "Clicking on question opens/hides answer under question". Now I can create FAQs, but I can't see how to edit them. Clicking on the question just displays the answer, and the node number is not revealed. How does one navigate to edit FAQS? My environment: Drupal 6.6 FAQ module 1.1.2.3.2.1 Thanks, Bo

First thing I would try would be to go to admin/build/moudles and click on the uninstall tab and see if that works. Old stuff hanging around

I have some oddness occurring with my 6.8 installation.There are a few modules that I tried out and subsequently abandoned. The directories have been removed from the /modules directory, yet the items created by them are still present in the form of blocks... or, are mysteriously present, who knows why! Looking for some wisdom on this. Seems like something being cached. Bob
