Best way to fix a bug?

I've been working with Drupal for more than two years, but regetfully, I'm not a coder. My strengths are primarily in theming. I know just enough survival PHP to get by. So here's my dilemma: A module I need for a site I'm building has a bug that prevents it from working. I posted information about it in the project issue queue a few days ago, but there has been no response. I attempted to contact the module's maintainer, but so far I have not yet received a reply. I can find the approximate location of the problem, but I don't know how to really debug it. What's a non-coder to do? Any suggestions? jns

site with no email requirement

i tried posting on the forum but nobody has replied yet. so i am repeating my question here. how do i set up my drupal site to not require an email address? my users are not very computer savvy and i don't want to have to require them to have an email address. not on the registration page and not in their account page either. please help. i tried the logintobogan module but that does not seem to have such an option. thanks nick

JQuery makes z-index useless?

I'm having a problem with z-index on an object. I don't use jQuery - I know javascript quite well and don't see the point in learning another way of doing it. But no matter what z-index I put this div at, elements burn through it. I did some searching and the only hint I got was that it may be something JQuery is doing, but couldn't find a fix. If I have to put some JQuery in my page just to get the z-index working that's fine but I'd rather not do the whole thing that way. If it's not JQuery does anyone know what might be causing this behavior? I tested it on various pages in the site, most of which have no custom javascript or other strangeness on them but see the same behavior - z-index seems to be completely ignored (including the default way of html working where the last element is on top). How can I duplicate fields in one content type?

I want to have a content type for a monthly list of about a dozen wine selections. I created the content type, and created fields for one wine, and I can add new fields or existing fields from a _different_ content type, but I don't see any way to copy the first set of fields on the _same_ content type. Is there a reason for this? Do I have to have Name for wine #1, and then Name2 for wine #2 and so on? Tabular Information

Greetings to all, i am maintaining a website for a group that have a lot of tabular information. They normally send it to me in Excel file format. It mostly contains textual information. I tried saving the Excel file to html or xml in openoffice but got a huge file that includes all the css tags of colors and fonts and stuff. Posting the info between <table and </table> in body section of a node with full html filter displays the table with undesirable effects: see the temporary link @ http://www.bahraintm.org/?q=node/43 Eventually I want to assign the job of posting to a group of people, so I am looking for a not so difficult way. So what are my options? Crafting the tables in HTML? Table Manager? I downloaded it but couldn't get the grip of it.. maybe needs more time. Please advice

Taxonomy Help

Need help fixing my invisible calendar

Hello, I've got a website in Drupal 5.2 here: http://www.menashalibrary.org All of a sudden today, the calendar is broken. If you click on events, you get a blank page. I am completely baffled as to what may have happened. I checked the server logs, and there's nothing helpful there. Also, nothing in the drupal logs to indicate anything wrong. Where do I even start troubleshooting this problem? - jody

Front page customization - 2 new columns with aggregated news

Hello List, I want to customize the front page of a new Drupal site. I want three columns in the front page other than the left and right side bars. Two of these columns should aggregate news from RSS feeds. The third column should contain the regular posts from page and story nodes promoted to the front page. Below is the layout of the front page I want to achieve ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Header ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Left Sidebar| News 1| News 2| Page/Story nodes| | Right side bar ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Footer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What are my options? key/value combo in custom field

Ok, I figured out how to create a select where the key is different from the value using a custom field, and I figured out how to group listings by that field, but I can't find how to theme it properly. I really have no idea why it puts the select in the body and how to get it out of there and I don't know how to tell the grouping headers to display the full name instead of the abbreviation - it clearly has the data because it's displaying it in the body (to my dismay), but I've output pretty much every object, array and variable that I can find a reference to but it's not anywhere. The closest I've come is a long string that contains all keys and values separated by a | which is exactly how you put it into the values field. Flash based 'rotator' for front page?

Hello, I have a website that has a number of items on the front page. Is there a module out there, or does anyone know of a way to have a block cycle through items promoted to front page? I'd kind of like to do what the Steam does: http://steampowered.com/v/index.php Have a block where every few seconds, a new story appears. But, having little blocks you can click on as well to move around those stories. - jody
