[drupal-support] DNS settings for multisite Drupal

Hi, I have been playing with the multisite Drupal, but I cannot get the DNS settings right, so maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I have and old domain, partyfashion.net It contains a devel site HEAD, with multisiste patches. I used to have: partyfashion.net. A 82.138.75.23 www.partyfashion.net. CNAME partyfashion.net. which showed me the multisite thing worked: sites/www.partyfashion.net/ and sites.partyfashion.net were called differently. Now I added a qrio.partyfashion.net. CNAME partyfashion.net. but from then on things weant wrong. qrio.partyfashion.net now points to 82.138.75.23, which is (or seems to be) the basedir of the host. This is wrong. After fiddling around a bit, i broke things even more: www.partyfashion.net. CNAME partyfashion.net. is still in place, but the www one now also points to the wrong direction. So far the explanation. Can anyone tell me: * what type of DNS (PTR, A, CNAME etc) I need to point a foo.mydomain.com to mydomain.com, where the multisiste drupal resides. * if its possible to use wildcards: e.g. *.partyfashion.net. CNAME partyfashion.net. should get the settings from the multisite drupal. I only have to add a folder in the sites dir, and no not have to go to my dns settings everytime * What type of settings I would need for a complete new domainame: e.g. if i want foobar.com to use my multisite Drupal living in partyfashio.net. If i manage to get my settings right, with some help. And if I start understanding the DNS basics with that help, I will make this into a handbook page: DNS settings for multisite Drupal. We're looking for representative Drupal 4.5.2 databases that we can use for benchmarking purpose. We favor (a) largish databases (b) that continue to work in absence of contributed/custom modules. We'll upgrade one or more databases to Drupal 4.6/HEAD to compare performance of Drupal 4.5 with Drupal 4.6/HEAD. If you want to help, or if you have a database to share, let us know within the next few hours. (We only have access to these benchmark machines for a few days.) just upgraded to 4.5.2 (debian unstable package), mostly using update.php script (I upgraded some stuff by hand, comparing my db structure to database.mysql), the db structure seems OK now (I checked it against database.mysql. it seems to be mostly working, only see one problem, there's an error message on the top of the page (and no RSS feeds are working): --------------- cut here -------------- user error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Right now on my current installation whenever I look at a node the title of the page shows: "title of the node" | "Name of the site" This seems silly since the order is supposed to be inverted. There's some sort of setting or it's something hardcoded? There is a simple way to swap them? -HRose / Abalieno

[drupal-support] menu block and viewing nodes

Couldnt find anything on this ... I'm using multiple vocabularies with a menu associated to each one. I want to only show one menu block at a time. So I defined the menu blocks path with the appropriate taxonomy/terms, i.e., <term/(1|2|4|86|107)>. Just one problem, the menu block goes away when a node is viewed. This makes sense because the URL is for a node and not a term. Really would like to have the menu block available when viewing a node that is in the appropriate term. Any other methods available? [drupal-support] Themes causing database corruption?

I am using Drupal 4.5.2 with the default Bluemarine theme. The database is MySQL 3.23. The site is this: http://portal.wikinerds.org I tried many of the themes that can be found at drupal.org, including Sunflower, Goofy, Kubrick, Interlaced and many more. After I tested many themes I decided to return to my default Bluemarine theme. When I loaded the Bluemarine again, everything was messed up: - The sidebar was on the left instead of on the right. - My site logo and name was not showing up - My site footer was hidden - My primary links and secondary links weren't showing up - The article titles were not clickable as before - When I checked some articles, I was seeing some random characters instead of the article text. It is not a caching issue on my browser because I tested it with many different computers. What I did then was to download the original Drupal 4.5.2 again and set-up the site from the beginning using the same database. So, I replaced all code, without of course copying the non-default themes. I had again a default Drupal installation using the same database. The display was still incorrect, which makes me to believe that somehow the database got corrupt. Note: I use the Feedback and Excerpt modules. One of the themes I tried was Goofy, and another user has posted this bug report: http://drupal.org/node/15400 However I don't know whether it was Goofy which caused the problem, because I tested many other themes too. I have a database backup from Feb-1, but it doesn't contain the newest content such as the GNU/Hurd article. I also tried the other default themes of Drupal and they don't work, either. Any help is appreciated. I would never imagine that testing some themes would cause these terrible problems! I can login to my site and change settings, but the display is all messed up. [drupal-support] Changing the default English Translation (locale)

Not actually working on multi-lingual sites (at this point), however... What I want is my 'en' 'translation' to be different from the default. I have on one site used the localization settings to add a new 'language' (which I called en-GB), however the sole purpose was to just change the default behavior. I didn't want to provide multiple 'translations'. It does work of course, just me being a fussy perfectionist. How are other people achieving the same thing? Cheers, Ross.

It seems gone in the last versions. I'd like to be able to set the site so that the session expires as the browser closes for the users choosing so and log them in automatically without an expiration date for those choosing so as well. This is possible or not in the current version? Why such important and intuitive feature has been removed? -HRose / Abalieno

[drupal-support] Listhandler.module + Mailman + Postfix question

I've successfully installed mailman, mailhander.module, and the listhandler.module on my Debian Woody box running Postfix. Everything works, except that mailman intercepts all the incoming mail to the list and so the mail never gets to the mbox file. Therefore, the mailhandler.module never gets a chance to post the incoming mail to the forum. How do I configure mailhandler and/or postfix to send the e-mail to the mailbox I have listed in the mailhandler settings page? Thanks.

hallo to everyone, my name is Michele and I am the referent for the Drupal Italian translation. Our team just completed 4.5.0 translation, and aligned cvs translation to 4.5.2. Is it possible to have a new, 4.5.2 specific version link on the translation project page (http://drupal.org/node/11098/release/add)? thank you for your help! Michele
