I am researching a band website right now and I can't seem to find any mature modules or solutions. Has anyone on the list come across anything I haven't?
I've looked into audio, jquery media etc. Seem like I could get it to work but not very elegantly and the jquery media seems like overkill.
I am thinking about rolling my own solution.

You would have to be more specific about what you want the module to do verses what existing modules do, don't do, or do poorly.
You may be interested in integration with a CDN, anyway. Streaming audo can hit your bandwidth hard.

Basic upload and playing of mp3s. I also need to be able to theme the player.
Not worried about the bandwidth at this point. I'm probably only talking about a couple albums worth to start.
Any suggestions on audio specific CDNs if it gets to that point?

I have streaming audio on my site. I started out with Audio module but it was a nightmare to work with, so ended up doing it myself just using CCK/embedded media field/1pixel player. There are modules out there that will get you file data from audio files, which you might find handy too.
the problem with modules like Audio/Video and such like is that they are relics of the pre-cck days. It easier and more flexible to just use CCK/emfield.

Thx, appreciate the input. I saw that player and it seems nice for one mp3 but I was hoping for something a little bit more robust.
In the past I have used jPlayer (not in Drupal). I'm not seeing anything here with that level of flexibility (i.e. ogg etc.). Was thinking I might be able to hook it up using cck, a view and a custom module without killing myself. :)

I can recommend Aaron Winborn's book "Drupal Multimedia", It's two years old now, but lot's of tips, and lot's of stuff already out there.

Thx Warren, I'll take a closer look at that book.
I did read a blog post or two that referenced the book which is where I got the info on the Jquery Media solution. I assume that is what is suggested in the book. It seemed rough to me. I don't care for that player for audio. I need the ability to style the player basically down to the pixel.

Thanks for the tip, I'm doing a site for a mobile DJ and using the book, was intrigued by your domain name, I was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana, grew up in the Port Arthur, Texas area.
In the third grade in Port Arthur, a music teacher introduced us all to the tonette and taught us how to read music, then he tried to form a school band and there were a few of us who couldn't afford to buy instruments, so the school bought a couple as loaners, and this girl and I were competing for the loaner Trombone, and I won because my arms were a bit longer. The girl was Janis Joplin, so I guess she didn't let that hold her back. Moved to another smallish town in the 5th grade, and nearly drown as a kid in Cow Bayou there.
The world is a very small place,

As for the player, you can drop pretty much anything in there. You might have to write some code, but nothing to write home about. Or, you could just create a filefield field for the file and a computed field to hold the javascript to put the player on top of it. Playlists might take some more creativity, but the point is that the tools are there.

We are running Webform 6.x-3.4 on an Apache server. I am unable to add an email address on the Emails tab. It is displaying "Currently not sending e-mails, add an e-mail recipient below." When I try to enter an email address (I've tried a number of different types of addresses) and click the Add button, the following message displays: "This will immediately delete the e-mail settings sending to the address. Delete Cancel" Clicking either the Delete button or the Cancel command just boots me back to the Emails page that tells me I am currently not sending e-mails and need to add an e-mail recipient. It's a vicious cycle, and I can't get anywhere, lol. When I then test the form out, the submitted data does go into the database, but an email is never sent. Help????? I've scoured through the online issues forum and read alot of similar issues with being unable to send email, but nothing about not being able to add an email address on that tab. What am I missing? Thank you in advance, Leslie
Leslie,
The first step in troubleshooting this would be to check if the Drupal install is able to send out regular emails, for example, after one registers at the site or a password reset email.
Are those going out okay?
