Assign a role at new user login

Folks: I would like the new user to be able to self-assign a selection of roles when creating a new account. It should probably appear, and be editable, also in the user's account settings. Is there a module for this? Bill William A. Prothero http://earthednet.org/

Multisite help -- same codebase, almost same DB

I'm setting up a Drupal 6 site for a organization that has member clubs. This is an obvious set up for a multisite installation where the main domain is for the organization and the clubs are in subdomains. I want to have each club have it's own theme (actually the same theme with different logos). Other problems I have are how to: Have different menus for each club (I'm using the picture_reloaded theme, so the menus are in the superfish block) Have different Site Names & slogans Everything else in the DB will be shared. Any help would be appreciated. Ken

Class registration for Drupal 7

Building "add more" feature for managed_file form field type

Hello, I'm trying to provide the ability to upload more than one file in the configuration of one of my custom blocks. xdebugger

Hi, Trying to get a debugger working using a default install of Ubuntu (lucid) 10.04 - Installed eclipse - Installed xdebug - tar -zxvf drupal to /var/www/drupal-7.0 The debugger does stop at define('DRUPAL_ROOT', getcwd()); In index.php However it does not stop in my module. To create the eclipse project I - created a project called drupal-7.0 - created a soft link to /var/www/drupal-7.0 - added breakpoints to my module in ~/workspace/drupal-7.0/sites/all/modules/iain/iain.module But it does not stop at the breakpoints I noticed that the filename for index.php is drupal-7.0/index.php and the filename for the module is a fully qualified path e.g. /home/user/workspace/drupal-7.0/sites/all/modules/iain/iain.module Thanks Iain

Store files on different server

I want to store files from one filefield (or all files from sites/default/files) on a different server to reduce the traffic on my main server. It is a shared hosting so I can't mount a network drive. I found one module (Storage API http://drupal.org/project/storage_api) that seems to be able to help me but I can't get it to work. If somebody knows another module that might do it, I'd appreciate a hint. If not, here is what I've done and what it does now. Using Drupal 6, Storage API 6.x-1.2 and the filefield integration from http://drupal.org/node/1134868. I created a container using the FTP service and a class with only that conainer. Serving is enabled for the FTP container. Now in the FTP directory two new directories were created: objects and files. I chose the storing class on the filefield and checked "Use Storage API for file storage". Now a copy of the files are stored on the FTP server when creating or updating a node. But they are placed in the objects directory and are named 1.bin, 2.bin, 3.bin etc. Also when viewing the node or a view with the files still the old local files are used. How can I make it serve the files from the FTP server? Or, maybe the better question: What would be the usual way to do this in Drupal? Thank you very much in advance for any hint or advice! steeph

Menu Items w/o Links

[ Sorry, LONG email ... and more easily read with a monospaced font ... ] I need to use (Drupal 7) a menu where, for the most part, the only menu items that are associated with links are the "leaf items". Say I have a "Family" menu. When completely collapsed, it looks like this (the "-->" I've appended below indicates that the corresponding menu item *is* associated with a link): > Family --> Clicking on "Family" expands the menu to this (as well as changing the page content to "family info"): V Family --> > Parents Siblings Pets Finally, clicking on "Parents" produces this: V Family --> V Parents Father --> Mother --> Siblings Pets Hopefully the above makes sense! So, if the user clicks on "Family", "Father", or "Mother", the content will change corresponding to the linked page. OTOH, clicking on "Parents", "Siblings", or "Pets", causes *no* change in the content, but does expand/contract the menu where necessary. This seems like a very common need. I searched the Internet (maybe not enough!), but didn't find a simple, completely working solution. The "Menu item container" project looked promising, but it appears to be available only for D6. Is the "Special menu items" module the "way to go"? I installed it. But when I click on a non-linked menu item (e.g., "Parents" above), the sub-menu doesn't expand ... the text is there, but is inactive. changing field tables

I just ran into a Drupal gotcha. Here's the situation. I coded db queries for nodes and blocks using the hard-coded field file_path which is part of the content-type story-image. My queries referenced content_type_story_image.field_story_file_path_value and it was working fine. However today I added a second content type, fairy-tale-image which as one of its fields uses the existing field file_path. This caused the file_path field to move into its own table, content_field_file_path. Now I've changed the queries but am thinking there must be a more intelligent way I could've done these queries, like going through Drupal's api and not getting caught on this snag.
