SQL syntax problems

I'm having a big problem with Drupal clean install. (I've done other sites before and now they also have this problem) I uploaded the Drupal 5.5 tarball. In phpMyAdmin I created the MySQL database drupal-domainname and associated with it a pre-existing SQL user with global privileges. I then did the install script and create the admin account as per the instructions. Here's the problem: I initially added two modules: the Available Updates module and also System info module. No other modules (yet). But I did run cron. So in the System Info, I get: user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 query: SHOW GRANTS in /home/domainname/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172. user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax. The identical line is repeated twice on the System info page as I quoted above. So this is odd enough. I generally use phpMyAdmin to create the databases, but when I try it from the terminal using the install instructions, I get a similar message: mysql> GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, INDEX, ALTER, CREATE -> TEMPORARY TABLES, LOCK TABLES -> ON drupal-domainname.* -> TO 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-domainname.* Given that the install is as clean as possible (and I've had no similar problems with other Drupal installs on the same server until now) and that it's happening when I use both phpMyAdmin or mysqladmin, I'm thinking this might be a MySQL problem and not a Drupal problem. Any advice and help are really appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I maintain a website for a paragliding club, and while I can find my way through a drupal install (I even wrote my own module, can you believe that ?), I'm not an artist - I lost that dream loong ago. But I need that site to be beautiful, original, usable and clean. So, where do I turn to have that job (well) done by someone else, and more importantly how much would that cost ? The site is drupal 5.5 + a big bunch of modules. Thanks for your hints, Xav PS: please Cc me on reply, I don't always read mails on the list.

Block Styles

Thanks for the help with login page. I am working on that now, and that seems to be going ok. Now, I am working on the Menu System, and I have created some new menus. This is probably a very easy question ... but for different menus, I'd like to have different styles for different menu names. Along that line ... I'd like to have different styles for different blocks. I am going through on how to make themes, and I am looking online and through my book "Pro Drupal Development" I may find my answer soon, but if anyone wants to point me to the right direction, that would be great! Synchronous Wiki Page Editing

I am using Pearwiki and wikitools to create pages on my site. Anyone can create a login or edit pages. If two people click "edit" at the same time, one persons work is lost. The second person to click "submit" gets an error message: This content has been modified by another user, changes cannot be saved. This is obviously a version control issue. This problem has been solved before in computer programming. Is there a solution for Drupal? Does this happen anytime two users hit "edit"? I guess it would make more sense to block the second user from clicking "Edit", that would be the "checking out" of the particular article. Then when it is checked back in, the other users could edit it, but only after. Currently, the configuration forks the content every time two people click "edit." Is there a workaround? I checked all of my settings, but didn't see a solution. --ian--

Move Login Form

I've seen this done before, and so I know it is definitely possible. I want to move the Login form from the main page to another page. So when I go the main page, I don't get any login form. I'd have a small link to this new page that has only the login information. Can someone point me to a link to do this, or let me know how to do this? Thanks.

HTML is getting cut off

I'm porting a static HTML web-site to Drupal 5.5. I'm taking the first page, and I've cut out the left-side, right-side, header, and footer, and just grabbed the main content of the page. I tested this HTML out and it is valid with correctly matched tags. It is a lot of HTML ... I pasted this into the content, and when I saved it ... half the HTML is gone. Is there some sort of limit on the size of the HTML code that can be in the content? Could it be something in the HTML that when it gets saved ... part of that HTML is removed? Thanks! Tom

Create header for the aggregator page

Hi all. I want to write some lines (a description of the page and a link to how add users RSS to this page) at the top of the page that drupal create for the aggregator items. Is this possible ?
