2 different templates for Print module

Installation of Drupal 5.5 Complete

In the interest of solving the issue: With the same version of Resin/Drupal and MySQL, the installation on my laptop worked, but the one on the shared server did not. Actually, both installations worked initially .... it was the modules that screwed me up. On my laptop I untarred the files under the user name, so of course when you untar a module, it gets the same user id and group id as it was when it was tarred. On my laptop I moved the resulting directories to /sites/all/modules/module_name and as a result, they got the right name and username and group permissions. On the shared server ... I took a slightly different tact. I moved the tarballs to /sites/all/modules and then untarred them there .... but then failed to change the username and group permissions to the same username and group that belong to all the other files. Ultimately ... yeah, I did go off the "main path" ... but with the new Resin 3.1.4 and Drupal 5.5, and the modules set with the same username and group permissions ... everything is working 100% perfectly. Thanks for all the help!

Making menu items based on categories visible by role

I have a CCK type the uses Filefield plugin that is used to upload documents to the site. I have created a taxonomy category and assigned it to the Document type. Certain roles can access each category. What I would like to do is have a Documents top level menu, and then one submenu item for each category. Each person that logs in would only have the menu items visible that are allowed for their role. How can I do this? Is it possible to do it with one view with an argument, or do I need to create a separate view for each category and limit access from within the view? Or is there another way to do it? Thanks. In addition to the original problem description, I've also noticed that for entries made without the box, the breadcrumb only says forums, no categories showing after that at all. I tried to find the time frame for when this happened. It appears to have occurred around the time when, in trying to troubleshoot another problem, I had disabled then re-enabled all modules, including the forum module. I wonder if that could have something to do with this happening? I found a forum message on Drupal.org mentioning something about this, but they had no lists at all for the forums area. How to create "index" pages of content

Hi, I'm still very new to Drupal and am trying to figure out how to set things up. I'd like to have "index" pages for my content types. For instance "podcasts/" where it lists all my podcast audio content, and a "gallery/" where it lists all my image gallery items, etc. How do I do this? I've been able to kinda do what I want using a URL alias to a taxonomy term/category but this isn't ideal, because my terms are not necessarily exclusive (i.e. a photo may come from a podcast recording session and be tagged podcast). I'm sure this is really simple but I seem to be missing.

Missing Forum categories box

Hello, For some reason the categories box shown when creating a forum topic has disappeared. The forums are there, the list shows under forums and forum content is there and visible. On other content types the categories are shown, just not for Forums. Drupal Version 5.3 Apache version 1.3.39 PHP version 4.4.6 MySQL version 4.1.22 Any idea what to check?

Can't Fix "unexpected $end" error in theme file

I've downloaded a site from a server to my laptop so I can work on it locally, but there's an error I can't get past. When I try to bring up the site, I get an error saying "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in \path\sites\all\themes\themename\page.tpl.php on line 70." Line 70 is the very last line of the template file and all it contains is "</html>" (it's a customized version of the cms theme from the drupal.org). I have gone line by line through the file, and I can't find any opening tags without closing tags or vice versa. This exact same file works fine on the server (I've re-downloaded it to make sure it's the same one) and my desktop PC. To me this indicates something on my laptop. Can anybody she some light on what might be causing this? Thanks. Steve

Hide preview, custom node field and access upload file

Dear All, I followed the node example of drupal 5. 1. But the preview display not working. Even the edit value will save correctly. Meanwhile I'm debuging it, how to hide/block the preview (also the edit) button? 2. I add custom time field for my node. How to prepare it? Cause on database, it saved as unixtime, I need to process to display to form. Then save it later. (Convert it agan to unixtime) 3. With or without www prefix ...

Hello, My first question is if there is a rule-of-thumb or widely-recognized-convention on whether a site should choose to have www prefix or not. Or is it simple a personal preference of the site owner? My second question is more specific to my case. I didn't setup any url redirect, so my site can be accessed by both: www.example.com and example.com Now I learned that from SEO point of view, it's better to redirect one of them to the other. Personally, I prefer the no-www url, i.e. example.com. However, the site has been up for a couple years, and the two address ends up with different google page ranks. www.example.com PR=7 example.com PR=3 If I were to redirect all www.example.com links to example.com, will that hurt my PR, say drag it down from 7 to 3? I also have gsitemap module installed, is there any setup need to be taken care of there, for example, submit the site or generate sitemaps with/out www prefix? I am a newbie on these SEO and page rank stuff, please advise. Thanks, Jim
