Thanks Sean for the reply. I do hope you are right about how easy it is. The right to left language can be a problem because my html is more messy because of having to put dir=RTL tags everywhere . I'll ask also in drupal.org.il for there opinion . A bit off subject but except of people using RSS software is there any other importance to RSS feeds ? Emmanuel

Dear friends! Yes, the Kabissa team has been drinking the koolaid lately, and we're feverishly working to migrate our Joomla site to Drupal. In the coming weeks we will be moving our content over and moving our member database into civicrm and a "web 2.0" style member directory. As some may recall, we initially planned to do this with Joomla/civicrm (our specs are still up on the civicrm.org site) but have now decided to shift to Drupal/civicrm. I've been looking at the "Migrating from Joomla/Mambo" guidebook page here: http://drupal.org/node/80195 It helps, but does not provide a script/recipe for actually migrating the site. I outlined what I'm trying to migrate and the steps that seem to be required in a comment to that page, here: http://drupal.org/node/80195#comment-232717 I know this will not be a turnkey affair, but still I feel that it could be made easier. Perhaps others on this list have had better luck (or know somebody who has). I'd be massively grateful for any advice from others that have been through this before us, or a volunteer to work with us on the actual migration and to expand on the guidebook page. I suspect that folks will be migrating their community websites in droves as they realize what Drupal 5.1 can do, and we need to be more welcoming to them. Site layout with drupal

I am using drupal 5 (since 4.x or so) and while it's easy to install and setup as well as add various content types I am still struggling with trying to figure out how to do the overall site layout. Let's say I want to have a generic news/blog (that works out of the box) but I also want distinct (example) sections for Music (my audio files etc.), computers/linux (setup, progamming projects etc.), Sports etc. When I say distinct I mean at least obviously distinct in navigation menu, possibly distinct themes/styles/modules enabled etc. I know I can simply create a book and add the top page to the menu but I'd like to hear about something better - how do other people do it? It seems taxonomy might do it - do I want a separate vocabulary for each section? Related: I see that drupal.org has location line displayed at the top of the page, e.g.: Home » Image galleries » Drupal Where does that come from? That kinda looks like what I think of as sections (i.e. Image galleries section within Drupal). TIA, erik

advise coverting static site to Drupal

Hello Drupalers , I'm the web designer of a chess club 'static' site www.jeruchess.com and though there is no real need to make it dynamic I think it can save time on updating the site. (instead of manualy linking a new post in 3 different places , make the updates show aotomaticlly in 3 as many section needed). Feel free to have a look (though it's basicly in hebrew.) and tell me if you think it will be an easy conversion to Drupal . I would like to have the same design aprox. Access control modules do not work . . .

I've got an intranet site up and running that was started w/Drupal 4.7.something. I installed, at that time, the node privacy byrole module [1] to control who can access what. Eventually, I got around to updating the site to Drupal 5. Before I started that process, I disabled all contributed modules, including node privacy byrole. I was pretty sure I followed all the steps necessary to disable that module, but I must have missed something, because now no access control module I've tried will work. What I've done so far is to install and uninstall Taxonomy Access Control Lite [2] (several times), Taxonomy Access Control [3] (a few times), Path Access [4] and one or two others to no avail. I've followed the advice of the Persistent 'Welcome to Drupal' for anonymous users [5] Troubleshooting FAQ node, and I've clicked the Rebuild permissions button (more than once) on admin/content/node-settings. I'm assuming something's not right with my installation, but nothing I've found so far has provided a solution. I'd really like to install and use the tac_lite module, because I think it suites my needs just fine, and it's not nearly as complicated or difficult to use as some of the others. At this point, however, the priority is to be able to control who can access what. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try to fix this problem? I recommend Firefox's Firebug extension. You can just click on inspect and click on anything and it will tell you all the CSS and where it is. A little clarification about accounts and user roles, please

Hi there, I read some articles about users and roles on the drupal.org site and got a little confused. Note that i consider myself a newbie to everything Drupal so please pardon this newbiish question. In the article it says not to use the first user id to do "day to day stuff" on the site, i assume that means blog posting and so on, but i can't use the same email for 2 users, which i assume is in order. Still i want to have it clarified what the first user id should be used for and why one should have another one set up. Does it have to do with security or that kind of stuff? How do other drupal gurus out there have their accounts/roles/etc set up? Thanks for any help. /Krister, somewhat confused

OG node type access restrictions

Hi all. I'm staring at a tricky node permission question I'd like some help on. Using Drupal 5.x. I have a series of Organic Groups, with a node type of "Board". Each Board is owned by uid 1, and has one or more other managers. I also have a number of other node types (for now let's say News and Page) defined. News, Page, and Board are both CCK-defined nodes, so they're owned by node.module. What I want is to have OG manageres able to create Page nodes only in their own OG, not in any others. I also want to have anyone who is a subscriber of a given OG to be able to create a News node in that OG, or better yet be able to create a News node without even being a subscriber of that OG (optional bonus). The roles system doesn't know from OG, so if I put managers into a "Manager" role then they'd be able to create Page nodes in any OG. I considered hook_access(), but that works only for nodes I've defined within that module. I glanced at hook_node_grants, but since I'm using OG already I'm quite worried to avoid getting into that mess if I can avoid it (since they both interact with the node_access table. Does anyone have a better suggestion for how to make that work?
