change domain address after install

Hello, Kind of a basic one, but cannot seem to find the answer. I installed drupal 6 via the command line on an Ubuntu vps and the site address is " www.example.com/drupal6". I am trying to get it to point directly to " www.example.com". Any suggestions, should I have installed this manually instead of using apt-get install? Thanks

Unable to View Anonymously Created Content

I'm using Domain Access and I'm having anonymous users "register" for an event by creating content. Because I have domain access installed, I believe there are two things that need to happen before anonymous can publish: They need proper User Permissions under the Domain Access module and in Domain Access, the tab for "Default Settings" has a setting must be configured to have a default domain selected for the anonymous role. I have setup the Default Settings and I gave the following permissions to anonymous: - publish from assigned domain - publish from default domain When the anonymous user creates the "registration" the node is inserted and is visible to the Administrator in views, but not visible to any other user - UNLESS - I rebuild node permissions. So I think my configuration is correct, (though I can't be sure) ** What can I look into, why is this happening? ** I've tried using devel to look at the problem, but can't figure out how to use anything except the SQL queries to help myself out. (and that didn't yield anything useful either :( )

Execute this rule set

how can I add "view permission" to content being created?

Hi, I want to give to every user the possiblity to select view permissions (based on roles) for the content they create. I'm not sure I expressed myself correctly (I'm new to drupal) so I will make an example: I have "anonymous", "authenticated", "customer" and "employee" roles. When some user of the "employee" role creates a story, he wants to decide which other roles will be allowed to see this particular content. This one might be e.g. only for "employee", next time he wants to create something for "employee" as well as "customer" or for all including "anonymous". How can I handle this? I searched drupal web, found a lot of "*access*" modules and forum topics, but nothing suitable... Getting clean url's

I have a drupal instance on my server and as far as I can tell Apache is configured for mod_rewrite but when I try and configure Drupal for clean URL's it doesn't seem to pick it up. I do have the .htaccess file that came with drupal in the the /var/www directory which is the apache document root. Any ideas on how to get Drupal to recognize the clean url's?

block access to a view

I have a D6 site that has many contributors that need access to things like a content list that is only found under Content Management -> Content. I didn't want to give the administer nodes access to that role, so I just used Views to create a page view that mimics the content list. This works great for my users. Unfortunately, this page is visible to anonymous users, too. Any suggestions on how I can limit the access to this view/page? Thanks! Tina

hex codes in node_import files

I got to answer my own question. Pretty simple after all, I found all the characters in the field data that mapped to 0x80, or decimal 128 and up. Then converted them to HTML special character codes by prefixing with '&#' and suffixing ';'. So 146 ->  Seems to have worked well enough for my purpose although I don't know for sure that this accounts for all possibilities. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I'm porting CCK content from a redesigned D4 site to D6 by extracting the data in a PHP script, generating CSV files then using node_import to create the new nodes. It's working out pretty well so far but I hit the following snag on one of the content types. There are hex encoded characters in the D4 content, somewhere in the importation process the text gets truncated at the first appearance of one of these eg. 0x99, 0x93, 0x94. Am thinking the easiest way to handle it would be to preprocess the data in my PHP script, converting to what it really should be anyway ie. HTML special characters such as the following: 0x99 -> ™ 0x93 -> “ 0x94 -> ” Anyone know of an existing utility to do this for me? Otherwise I can code up a conversion method to accomplish it. Marty

D5 slow when write on DB.

Hi all. I have a problem with a D5 site. All write operation on DB are slow. But really slow. I had thinked that the problem was my DB so I have moved it to a cluster db server (thanks to unbit.it), but without changes. How can I found which is the operation that slowing down all ? I have disabled all modules like ping, autoping, devel, workflow. Thanks. Configuring yui and yui_editor modules on a per role basis.

Hi, I'm trying to get yui_editor working correctly for a specific role. The role is is called content_admin. I only want this specific role to be able to use the yui editor. I don't want site users to see it otherwise. Everything seems to work well. When I try to edit existing content the editor appears and all is well. When I add new content the editor does not appear and I only see the plain text editing area. I have set the role to have permission to use the yui editor. I have set the correct content type for the new content and associated with the right role using the better_formats module. I have setup the yui_editor profile to included the content_admin role. I've setup any setting that I can find to make sure the editor will show up when creating a new piece of content. And yet, the editor doesn't show up. Any help? Thanks, Matt
