Views parameters canceling each other out?

I'm working on a site for a city, and the city is broken down into it's different areas/departments. The page for each department has it's own view for its main page. For each piece of content, there are two taxonomy categories: one to indicate which department it does under, and one that indicates the type of information. What we need to do is have a block that shows the relevant content of a certain type for the specific department. So for instance, on the Police department page, I want to have a block that shows content with type 'form' and a department of 'police'. Since 'police' is the URL for the view (i.e. mysite.com/police on the Police page) and not an argument, I use the following code to add the view URL as an argument: $path = $_GET['q']; $searchchar = '/'; $slash = strpos($path, $searchchar); //get first item in path //if there is no '/' in $path, use $path if (strpos($path, $searchchar) === FALSE) { $subsite = $path; } else { //there was a slash, so we're assuming is it in the format node/xxxx $part1 = substr($path, 0, $slash); $sql = "SELECT dst FROM {url_alias} WHERE src = '%s'"; $alias = db_result(db_query($sql, $path)); $subsite = substr($alias, 0, strpos($alias, $searchchar)); } $args[0] = $subsite; I then have an argument that uses %1 from the URL. This code works perfectly by itself. The problem comes when I add a filter to narrow down by type using the second taxonomy term. If the filter is by content type, it works fine and both criteria are used. If however, the second filter is also by taxonomy term for the type vocabulary, then the block doesn't show at all. If I just use one or the other (the argument code or the filter by type vocabulary), the block shows up, but obviously only with more nodes displayed than I want. It's almost as if the two parameters (the argument and the filter) are canceling each other out. Can anyone verify if this is true? Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to do? Thanks. Steve

form evulating in other page

Hello, I made a form in a block and I like to evaluate in an other page, but I like to validate in the same block. How can I made it? Now in the submit function I put the variables to a $_SESSION variable and redirecting to the result page. But I think this is not a nice solution. Moving an image from one story to another?

I'm running drupal 5.7. I've got an image as a file attachment to one story. I've got the List box unchecked and refer to it with an <img> tag in-line with the story text. Now I want to use the image in another story (also by being the target of an <img> tag). If, at some point in the future, I delete the original story, does the attached image automatically get deleted too, leaving my second <img> tag pointing to a non-existent file? -- roy(a)panix.com

Strange search problem

I have a strange problem. I have a search block which works perfectly on my localhost. But when I put the site onto my web server, the search block goes to the further search page without any results (which are then found by a second search on that page). I notice that the search term is not being put into the url, e.g. search/node/searchterm (i.e. /searchterm not present, while it is on my localhost). Block php errors from Drupal Logs

I have some front page blocks based on nodeprofile fields which seem to be working fine and returning expected results. However my drupal logs are filling up with php errors on every view of the front page. What could cause this? As I say, the blocks seem to be working perfectly so I don't get why the php errors are filling out my log files and why the WHERE part of the query is getting altered. My site is haunted! SQL code gets changed by the Phantom of SQL Errors!

This is a real head scratcher. I have two sites: mysite.com and it.mysite.com, the Italian version. I noticed this morning a ton of mysql errors on pages where I have a block called "Related Pages". The sql query for this block is: SELECT n.title, n.nid FROM {node} n INNER JOIN {term_node} tn ON n.nid = tn.nid WHERE tn.tid = $term->tid AND n.nid != $nid LIMIT 3 it gets me a list of 3 related pages that share the same taxonomy terms and was working perfectly about 4 days ago the last time I checked. Now it gives me the error: user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DISTINCT(n.nid) FROM node n INNER JOIN term_node tn ON n.nid = tn.nid WHERE tn.t' at line 1 query: SELECT n.title, DISTINCT(n.nid) FROM node n INNER JOIN term_node tn ON n.nid = tn.nid WHERE tn.tid = 59 AND n.nid != 200 LIMIT 3 in /home/mysite/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172. I pasted the code into phpmyadmin and then noticed the difference between this and what I was getting on the Italian site which has identical code. For some reason, the DISTINCT was getting put into the code. So in block config, the code has been pasted as: SELECT n.title, n.nid FROM {node} n INNER JOIN {term_node} tn ON n.nid = tn.nid WHERE tn.tid = $term->tid AND n.nid != $nid LIMIT 3 and yet the query is being sent as: SELECT n.title, DISTINCT(n.nid) FROM node n INNER JOIN term_node tn ON n.nid = tn.nid WHERE tn.tid = 59 AND n.nid != 200 LIMIT 3 and it is this which is causing an error. In phpmyadmin, when I take away the DISTINCT(), it works like a dream. this is not happening on the Italian site despite identical block code. Now, I have been doing quite a bit of work with phpmyadmin in last few days although I can't think of anything I've changed on the english DB that may have created this result. Do I have to start calling the mediums and reaching for the garlic and crucifix? Neil
