It will be a simple text message just drawing their attention to a new poll. I've looked at a couple of email modules but they seem either overkill or buggy. CCK type of 'person'

New to Drupal and trying something which should be easy. Using CCK to create a person type. Fields are to be lastname, firstname, DOB... CCK is forcing me to give each entry a title which doesn't see to make sense, unless I use the persons full name. But I'd rather have this in lastname, firstname fields. Problem with update my Feed

Hi, I'm using Drupal 5.7, in my site i have created one feed using 'Administer » Content management >> Add Feed'. It's not getting update after i submit my feed and also it's not happing when i update it manually. It is showing the following error, *"The feed from Business seems to be broken, because of error "-10060 10060 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."."* (here 'Business' is my feed title). Anybody please help me to solve this problem.. i have proper internet connection and all and when i use this Rss url in my browser it is showing proper response. The url is http://online.wsj.com/xml/rss/0,,3_7077,00.xml. This is exist when i use any RSS url. Thanks & Regards Angappa Moorthy A -- Does everything with sincere and full of enjoyment. CCK Field Search

I believe this question has been asked before, but I see no clear answer. I have a site with a simple CCK nodetype with a few text fields. We need to implement a 'scholarly' search whereby one can limit one's search by year, Volume, author, or limit his search to the Title field. We want something akin to the author, subject, date feature here: http://scholar.google.co.il/advanced_scholar_search?hl=en&lr= The Faceted Search module I believe may have this functionality, but neither the stable nor beta version will run correctly on the PHP 4 live server and even the stable one doesn't run on my local PHP 5 dev. server. :( Faceted Search is quite a complicated module. My simple approach would be to just run a regular old text search based on the fields submitted. I would have to add an index or two, but aside from that, I think it would work. Are there any better suggestions? Thanks!

Theme views_slideshow ?

I usually use a phptemplate_views_view_list_contenttype function to theme the output of my views but can't get this to work with this great module http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow I tryed to use a Slideshow teaser list without results. information organization for a magazine website

Hey all. I'm totally new to drupal. I read the PDF getting started guide and I found it very useful. Thanks to the drupal community for all your hard work. I'm trying to make a web site for a magazine and I'm looking for some advise from the veterans. First, I need to tackle the information organization issue. The magazine has a number of issues in one series (about 6 issues/each series). Each issue has a number of articles. I'm not sure if it's better to make each article just a story and then add a taxonomy to link it to a specific issue or whether to have issues as a book? How would I represent a series? Now, a bit in the implementation end. I on the right side of the front page a list of stories (blog site) and right side of main page list of all the articles for the current issue. What's the best way of doing this? Thanks in advance for any pointers that you might be able to give me. Regards, -Gezim

Is there a way to "lock" taxonomy selections for a node after publication?

I have many OG group node content types where both the URL and the title are created automatically from the taxonomy settings. So when a user creates a new group and selects the location to be USA >> Texas >> Dallas: Title: My Group (Texas, Dallas, USA) URL /group/usa/texas/dallas/mygroup Is there a way for me to prevent that group administrator/creator from going back and changing the taxonomy terms a year down the line and therefore changing both the title and, more importantly, the URL with all its implications for SEO, site organisation, broken links, etc.?? How can I "lock" taxonomy on publication? Is that doable? Regards Neil

I manually imported some taxonomy terms, now getting "duplicate entry" errors.

I imported about a thousand terms into the terms_data table and then added the parent-child relationships in the terms_hiearchy table. Everything went smoothly until I tried to add a term manually in another vocabulary using the "add terms" UI in taxonomy. a.. user warning: Duplicate entry '126' for key 1 query: INSERT INTO term_data (tid, name, description, vid, weight) VALUES (126, '2000s', '', 6, 0) in /home/mysite/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172. b.. user warning: Duplicate entry '126' for key 1 query: INSERT INTO xmlsitemap_term (tid, pid, last_changed, priority_override) VALUES (126, NULL, 1212242801, NULL) in /home/mysite/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172. the auto increment for these tables should be over 1000 and is showing as such in phpmyadmin - is that value stored somewhere where I can alter it? If I manually enter terms into the _data and _hierarchy tables, is there something else I need to alter to avoid problems when I go back to manually adding terms? Neil

A simple question this time: I'd like to move my hosting because my provider is not very responsive and the connections are quite slow. I am in Italy, do you think I should choice an italian hosting or can I look for a provider mentioned on drupal's forum like ANhosting or ohter? In a few words, if I choose an american Hosting, will the speed be slow for my users or these problems don't exist? thanks.
