Content translation in Drupal 6 beta2

Hi everyone, this is cross post from forum node: http://drupal.org/node/186217 I have some questions for content translation feature of the new Drupal-6-beta2. I tried to make a site with two languages (Russian and English, with Russian as basic). I have added russian language, make it default, add Path prefix 'en' to English language. I also enabled 'Multilingual support' for page content type. And I selected 'Path prefix only' Language negotiation. Then I have created two pages - 'about company'. One on russian and another on english. I want to make russian page with alias 'about' and english page with 'en/about'. But, when I create these two pages, both aliases: 'about' and 'en/about' show russian page, and english version has an alias 'en/en/about'. What I am doing wrong? And another question about content translation are news. I have tried to make some story-type news with translation on two languages. I have expected that russian-language news will be visible only on russian part of the site, and english - on english. But now on the frontpage are listed both russian and english news. Language switcher block has no effect too. I've tried to switch back and forth - nothing happens - frontpage has both russian and english news. p.s. Sorry for my bad english.

Private Events in OG groups

Dear Drupalers, I am currently using Drupal 5.2, OG 4x-4.0-rc11, OG calendar 5x-1x-dev, OG context tracker, Event 5x-2x-dev. I have set up a group home page that incorporate views for event as well as og forum, biblio, poll, fileshare, bookpage and a cck-news item. When i add new content to any of these nodes within a group portal, i notice that the checkbox for that group only is checked by default. I also check the box to set the node to "private." the public check box is left unchecked. So far so good. All my nodes show up only in the intended groups, Except for my events. They show up also in the public calendar. I notice in my node_access entries that the event shows up three times like so: Sample Group Event example 1 Sample Group Event example_author 1 Sample Group Event og_subscriber 210 210 is the correct gid, but i don't understand where this "example" and "example_author" with a gid of 1 comes from. Is anyone else using this function successfully and if so, what is the key that i am missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers, grace

errors when trying to add PHP page that loads XML and XSL file

Hi all, We are trying to add a short PHP file to our Drupal site that loads an XML and XSL file and displays them. When I click preview or save, I get the following warnings in the display: * warning: DOMDocument::load() [function.DOMDocument-load]: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/local/lib_drupal/files/ejournal/a.xml" in /home/local/lib_drupal/includes/common.inc(1342) : eval()'d code on line 5. * warning: XSLTProcessor::transformToXml() [function.XSLTProcessor-transformToXml]: Invalid or inclomplete context in /home/local/lib_drupal/includes/common.inc(1342) : eval()'d code on line 14. The PHP script we are trying use is: <?php // Load the XML source $xml = new DOMDocument; $xml->load('files/ejournal/a.xml'); $xsl = new DOMDocument; $xsl->load('files/ejournal/ej.xsl'); // Configure the transformer $proc = new XSLTProcessor; $proc->importStyleSheet($xsl); // attach the xsl rules echo $proc->transformToXML($xml); ?> Why am I getting these warnings and what can I do to correct them? using OG without Views: looking for tips for group homepage customisation.

I installed OG and have decided to use ConTemplate to control look of group homepages, instead of Views. First question, is this a wise move or is it better to go the whole hog and use node_group.tpl.php? I have my group homepages looking nice with an image, description, subscribe link (not conditional though) and mission statement all showing nicely. What php do I need to show teasers of group posts? Or group subscriber photos? The contemplate default template for group nodes that gets loaded on the right hand side doesn't give a lot of assistance in this area, so I thought I'd turn to the support list. What have other people done with their contemplate/node_group.tpl.php templates? Many thanks in advance. Neil

how to add blocks to place in regions on my home page

I have a feeling there will be a very simple answer to this question, but I've searched and searched in the documentation and I just can't seem to hit on the right information to guide me. I'm setting up a new site in Drupal (5.2). I managed to get it installed and configured with very little problem, and I've created a new theme and added some content. What I need to do now is set up the home page for the site, which, instead of having one big area for content, will have that area divided into four sections, like this ----------------- | | | | ----------------- | | | | | | | --------- | | | | | | ----------------- each of which needs to be editable by the site owner. I've created regions by defining them in my template.php file, and added the regions to my theme so the are now appearing correctly on the home page. I believe what I need to do next is create some new blocks to place in those regions, and then the site owner can simply edit those blocks as needed. So my questions are: 1) Do I have the right idea with creating regions and placing editable blocks inside those regions? 2) How do I create a new block and ensure that it is editable by the site owner? I've seen mention a few times that I should to to "administer > blocks > add block" but I don't see this option in my site admin; the closest thing to it is "administer > site building > blocks", but this page does not include an "add block" function. I have a feeling that either I'm missing some crucial piece of information, or the documentation I've been reading is not for the version I'm using, or something in my site config is preventing me from seeing all the options/functions I should see in my site admin - or some combination of the above :) Hopefully some kind soul will be able to point me in the right direction! Restrict content to specific users?

I'm looking for suggestions on modules (or collections of modules) to restrict content to a specific user. I more or less have this now using a combination of Organic Groups and Views, but I'd like to know if others have alternate solutions. The way the site works now is, an Admin user logs in and can create content, making it available only to a specific group they select. (Only Admins can create content, all other users can only view content.) It's clunky now because the Admin has to create a new group and assign a user to it, so if there is a way that content can be targeted to a specific user, that would be ideal. Troubleshooting URL rewrites

I'm setting up Drupal on a subdirectory of our site and struggling mightily with clean URLs. I think this is an Apache issue, or a fixing my Apache config issue, but I'm not sure how to fix it without breaking the rest of the site. I have full control over the apache configuration, but I inherited a site with a fair amount of tweaking, rewrite rules to accommodate a site restructuring long ago, and more tweaking. Mod_rewrite is definitely enabled, and we're using it extensively in other places. What I'd like to do is add a line or six to the "staging.conf" (and eventually to www.conf) in my apache configs that will give drupal control over URL rewriting in the drupal directory without interfering with anything else. Currently, the "clean url" test just fails. Modules missing in 5.3

I just installed 5.3 but none of the modules are showing up when I try to enable them. Did I miss something? Thanks

Recreating "Buddylist" block on customised userpage

I would like to recreate the Buddylist block I get on user pages (user/1, user/2, etc) which looks, after a bit of localisation changing, like this: --------------------------------------- Contact List Contacts: a.. Phil b.. John c.. Mike Contact Of: a.. John b.. Mike c.. Caroline (if I go to John's page) Remove John from your Contact List. (if I go to Cherie's page) Add Cherie to your Contact List. --------------------------------------- I checked out http://drupal.org/node/35738 and http://drupal.org/node/36501 but the code seems to be giving me info based on MY buddylist, whichever page I'm viewing. (I think this is because on my customised user_profile.tpl.php file, I call global $user earlier in the code. I did get the following snippet from the drupal forum to get the user page user, not the viewing user: <?php $temp_user = array('uid' => arg(1)); $user_page_user = user_load($temp_user ); ?> So if I put: <p>My name is <?php print $user->name ?></p> <p>My name is <?php print $user_page_user->name ?></p> I get first my name (viewing user) printed and then the name of the person whose page I'm viewing (viewed user). Believe me, I've been tearing my hair out about these "viewing user", "viewed user" differences for 3 days! But I don't seem to be able to incorporate $user_page_user into the buddylist snippet. It always shows me MY buddies, whichever page I'm on. Could someone point me in the right direction? .....and stop a grown man crying. :-(
