Different header image for each section

We¹re working on a redesign of an existing site. They new design includes a photo in the header. But I¹d like one photo to appear on all pages for one section (all pages grouped under one subject) of the site and a different photo for all pages of another section of the site, and so on. Any ideas on the simplest way to implement this? We¹re using 5.2.2.

Permissions Problem

Seems that if a node uses "Full HTML" then a user needs PHP rights to edit it. Is there a way to give him rights to Full HTML and not PHP? Thanks.

Upgrade to Drupal 5?

Hello, I have a production website that runs on Drupal 4.7. Should I move it to Drupal 5.2? I'm concerned that migrating might be difficult, might be work, or might cause downtime for my users. On the other hand, I'm concerned about staying with an old software version that might become unsupported in the future, and that migration might be more difficult later. My Drupal 4.7 site has several modules added on and I figure that these might not all work in Drupal 5. My understanding is that backwards compatibility is not a development goal for Drupal. So perhaps the best way to "migrate" is to essentially re-do the website from scratch and then copy all the content from the 4.7 site. I'm generally happy with Drupal 4.7. Is there any page that briefly explains what's new and exciting in Drupal 5 that might make one want to move to it? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Daniel.

Overhead Question about No. of Modules in sites/all on Multi-Site Installation

Even if you have hundreds of contrib modules loaded into /sites/all, it would not affect performance on a site that only enabled a small number of them because modules don't cause a load on the system when they are not enabled. The main downside to this would be on the usability and loading time of admin/build/modules. Is this correct? If not, please explain. Thank you, Shai

Newbie Question (Theme Layouts)

I'm looking for a theme for Drupal that has a navigation bar across the top, quick links on the right to various pages directly inside the site, and then a sub-navigation on the left hand side. Basically what I'm looking for is that the user goes to the main page, they see a navbar and the quick links. They click on an item on the navbar and when they're in that section, they see the same layout but now there's a navigation bar on the left hand side for that section. Sorry if this seems real basic but I'm new to this whole CMS thing. The actual placement of the items I can modify, just trying to find a theme to get started. -Charlie

showing if there are unread posts in forum

Hi, I might have asked about this before, so sorry if I'm double-posting, but this problem has bugged me forever... I want to show my visitors if there are new posts in my subforums. But I can only get drupal to count the number of new topics - it is not including comments, so my icon for new posts will not show if there are new comments in the subforum, but no new topics. Should be really simple, right? But I'm not able to build a correct query. Any help with this - just some pointers - would be extremely helpful!!! thanks Morten

statistics not working on some node types

Hi there, Do you know if the core statistics module allow some node content types to be excluded from being logged ? Since a few days, one of my CCK node type doesn't seem to execute statistics_exit() anymore, and I just can't figure out why ! I use a custom theme using a node-mycck_theme_name.tpl.php file, and everything works fine except that stats are not recorded anymore. I search in all administration pages, google & drupal search, but couldn't find where this could come from... :-( _Any_ ideas welcome... Thanks, Pierre-Yves

Online Journal / e-Portfolio

Hello, I need a way to make it easier for users to create an on-line portfolio of their work (the users are students doing school projects). The way we've been doing it so far is that they just make regular HTML pages. This means that the pupil must be mindful to keep an index page or else it'll be impossible to find their work scattered all over the site. I would love to have something that kept a group of pages together. I looked at the "book" content type and I liked it, BUT anyone can insert a page in anyone else's book. That's not what we want. We also don't want each user to be faced with a list of 2,000 "books" to choose from when Drupal asks to which book they want to add their page. Can anyone think of a better alternative? I took a look at the E-Journal module and that didn't do what I wanted either. E-Journal is to create a regular publication with issues and volumes and the like. Using a Blog would normally be a possibility, except that one of their projects that involves keeping a blog to record their progress. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Daniel.

What are the consequences of using latest JQuery?

I needed to use the latest JQuery release for my front page, so I was able to replace the core's version with the latest for only page-front.tpl.php. Later on during development, another developer decided to do the same replacement in page.tpl.php. I know this is a bad idea, but I how do I support that it's a bad idea? I see that some small issues with collapsible fieldsets on the admin and edit pages, but for the most part things work fine. What am I missing?? Thanks. Eric.
