SLOW LOADING

This is the #1 complaint I get from users of my site and no matter what I do, I can't figure how to make my pages load faster. I would like to know what suggestions you have. I really don't think this is an issue with what's on the pages. I think this is something to do with the DB and how it calls in blocks. RTF Import

I have now a set of around 10K RTF files which I want to import into Drupal as nodes. Roughly 600 of them have external images, linked using a structured file naming system. The RTF data is structured in volumes, each one to a directory, and then each page (more or less) is an RTF file. We have defined the teaser as the first 150 words of each article, where articles are defined as beginning on certain pages in another file. We plan to make the teasers available publicly and the full text only to paying members. I have poked around Google and drupal.com and I haven't really found any good solution for this type of import. The RTF files are not technically simple--some have tables and sideways text and other non-trivial RTF constructs. Any ideas as how to begin with this job? Perhaps convert RTF to HTML or XML first? Brilliant-Gallery

Hi! New to Drupal and fairly new to CMS in general. I have just installed Drupal 5.2 on Debian sid with Postgres 8.2 and PHP5. I cannot seem to get Brilliant-Gallery module to display images properly. All I get is a black bar. I have Lightbox and JQuery modules installed and everything is in the recommended place. It is obviously trying to display something so do I need any other modules? See www.joeshome.me.uk for the problem. The front page is just one line of text and [bg|chartwell], chartwell being the directory under files/albums/ Hope this is the correct place to post this query. easy way for users to upload images ?

Hi, since I have made our community site in drupal 5, I have constant requests from our users to "make it simple" because it's apparently far too complex. One big sore point seems to be uploading of images (in stories or as albums). I'm using the image module and derivatives. Now, it reached the point where they want me to switch to another framework, like joomla. So, does anyone have a way to make images uploading intuitive ? Thanks, Xav

Here is how I did finally: I used a custom module to add a new permission, called 'view non-public og posts', and gave it to the right role. Then I added two access hooks, as follows: function mymodule_node_grants($account, $op) { if ($op == 'view' && user_access('view non-public og posts')) { $grants['mymodule_realm'][] = 4; } return $grants ? $grants : array(); } function mymodule_node_access_records( $node) { $grants[] = array( 'realm' => 'mymodule_realm', 'gid' => 4, 'grant_view' => 1, ); return $grants; } This does two things: * Allows users with the right permission to see all posts (including private og posts). Note that this function should be altered if you still need to limit the users access to other node types. * Still, it accomplishes the need to have a group of users with non-admin permissions, that can still bypass the OG access limits. Aggreated feeds not updated

Hello, i want to syndicate with some RSS and Atom feeds. Unfortunately it's not working with every feed. I've installed latest Drupal 5.x version. *) Feed not working: http://blogs.msdn.com/ts/rss.xml - "403 Forbidden". *) Feed working: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml All feeds which i want to aggregate are working with every other rss reader though. feed disappeared

Recently I noticed that... a site of mine is missing the feed_icons link. feeds are there, even the site feed is there, but the feed_icons is missing. I changed theme... still missing... I made a diff with a site on the same server that has the icon and I noticed that jstools activeedit panels view have different versions. But all of them are disabled. different header text for each view?

Hi, I have a view that provides different pages of information based on selected taxonomy. Right now there is some intro text above it that is populated in the header section of the view. However when you do that the same text appears on each page. Is there a way to make this change per page? I thought about a block but I can't put that between the header and the content. .s

overriding function in template.php

Hi, i sent out an email with a question related to overriding functions in template.php a couple of days ago. Maybe i was unclear or so, but no one ever responded. However, i am not the only one who got a little confused. So maybe, if any of the experts could post a response to the issue at: http://drupal.org/node/173282#comment-279725 i would greatly appreciate it. Also, is it possible to 'subscribe' to an issue? I.e. is it possible to get notified when someone post a reply? thanks mat
