How techy must one be to use CCK?

Hi there. Ok, the subject line may sound a little ... overdoing, or what one should say, but let me explain: As i understand it, CCK is a very powerful and flexible module/set of modules. As i understand it, you can create your own content types with your own fields and/or use the provided field modules of which there seem to be a whole lot. What i want to know is if it's possible for a non-programmer like me to use CCK with any success. Another reason why i ask this question is that i'm helping a friend to set up a web site and it's possible she will also want to use CCK and she, just like me is a non-programmer. page titles for views?

Does anyone know a way to customize the page title (in the title tag) for a view? I asked about this for pages earlier and Bill suggested the page title module which works great - but there are two top level pages that are views that I need to customize the titles for and the page title module doesn't work with views. Since it's only two pages and the title isn't likely to change or at least not often I'm even willing to hard code it into template.php. what i tried so far is to add the following function to _phptemplate_variables: if($vars['node']->nid == '12'){ $vars['head_title'] = "TEST"; } I verified (through print statements) that the statement gets triggered on the proper page and that $vars['head_title'] is printing the current title. Furthermore a similar function is how the page title module does it. Yet when I print out the variable immediately after the function it still stays what it was. Full with print statements and output: print($vars['head_title']); // prints: Photo Gallery | Timberpeg if($vars['node']->nid == '12'){ print(" changing to test "); // prints: changing to test - indicates it gets triggered $vars['head_title'] = "TEST"; } print($vars['head_title']); // prints: Photo Gallery | Timberpeg thanks .sander

form with a view

Hello I need to add informations from anonym users to a view with a form, following this scenario : - at the top of the view a text (" Hello, if you want to add some elements to this list, use the form by clicking on the link") and the adequate link, - by clicking on the view, the user see a formulary's page with different fields, - he adds his informations in the fields, and he submits, - by submiting, 2 events : * first, the registered informations go the "right node/content type of the view" waiting validation of the admin for publication in the view, * second, for the user, the view reappears with a text at the "Thank you for submitting, ..." timesheet/employee module?

I have seen references to possible projects but no definitive answers. Does anyone know of a module where users can submit timesheets? Maybe there's something currently in development? Something simple where users can logon daily/weekly/biweekly and fill out a form with their hours, and maybe some info/ids of the projects they worked on. Any info would be appreciated. Development Best Practices

Hi folks, I'm in the process of developing a new Drupal site that will be fairly active when it gets up and running. As such, I'm wanting to have a development site ("HEAD") and a production site ("RELEASE"), but I'm at a bit of a loss for how to keep the databases in sync, preserving the changes I make on the development side, but not overwriting any of the content that may have been added on the production side. I'm sure others have run into this same problem, and so I'm wondering - are there any "best practices" documents out there to show how others have done it? I'll keep looking, but thought I'd appeal to the collective wisdom in case I miss anything. Cheers, Andrew

Organic groups and roles

Hi, I'm using organic groups for a 5.2 site. I created a new role that has none of the og permissions (create og content, etc.). I have a second role with those permissions added. A user granted with the first role, after he subscribes to the group, he is able to create content (page, story, etc.) inside the group, even though he does not have the required permissions. How can I restrict this user not to create content under this group? I want only users granted with the second role (group editors) to create/edit/delete content inside the group. Simplenews question

Hi As far as I know, Simplenews is the only available module for managing newsletters. However, I find it way too... well, simple (!) when compared to the newsletter modules for other platforms, lacking such basic features as generating the newsletter content automatically, based, for instance, on the 10 most recent nodes, or the last post from some category, or the latest registered users, and so on. Are there any plugins for Simplenews that help creating the newsletter content? Or have I missed some, more advanced, alternative newsletter modules for Drupal? FORUM permission and moderation granularity

Hi all, in the site I am building there are different sections each accessible to a different groups of users identified by different roles; users can have more than one role. I am using Taxonomy Access Control but I do not manage to restrict access to Forums. What I would like is: user with role X can read/write on Forum X user with role X, Y can read/write on Forum X and Y and so on ... I defined Taxonomy Access Permission using the term that is created automatically when you create a Forum but it doesn't seem to work... If the Forum and the Term of the Forum Vocabulary are named "X" I have set Taxonomy access permissions for Anonymous and Authenticated roles as follows: Show-Deny Update-Deny Delete-Deny And for the role "X": Show-Allow Update-Allow Delete-Deny List When log in as a user with role "X" and I try to add a new Forum Topic the drop-down list of Forums is empty! I manage to reply to a Topic added by the admin. Any hints? Second issue: is it possible to have one Forum moderated and another one not moderated on different sections? TIA for your help, Davide
