Dreamweaver Cheese

A Dreamweaver extension could serve the purpose of luring people in the right direction. I was the typical designer who started out with the Dreamweaver crutch before I discovered the joys of xhtml/css . Most people that use Dreamweaver use it because they don't know any better and you can't really change that until they sink their teeth into a project and find out that it is really holding them back. I explored Mambo/Joomla! before Drupal back in the day because it did have a Dreamweaver extension and that made me feel like I was on familiar ground. I've seen other designers do the same for similar reasons. In the end the extension would not be that useful but I see valuable PR opportunity. Thanks for the pointers, i am reading that chapter right now and light bulbs turn on right and left. I also ordered the whole book. Thanks for the replies. I'll try your advice. Really what i was trying to achieve is more or less just learn about Drupal. Specifically i actually wanted to get some insight into the flow of things. So i was trying to override a function which at first does not change anything in terms of the rendered webpage. And then from there change little things just to see what happens. overriding function in template.php

Hi, i sent out an email with a question related to overriding functions in template.php a couple of days ago. Maybe i was unclear or so, but no one ever responded. However, i am not the only one who got a little confused. So maybe, if any of the experts could post a response to the issue at: http://drupal.org/node/173282#comment-279725 i would greatly appreciate it. Also, is it possible to 'subscribe' to an issue? I.e. is it possible to get notified when someone post a reply? thanks mat

drupal_render() problem

Hi, i am somewhat new to drupal and so this is probably a trivial problem. I am playing around with theming (i.e. trying to learn how to). Anyway, on my site i have the loggintoboggan module enabled and i would like to change the appearance of the login block. Currently the block simply displays the login/register link. I did not want to touch the module so i thought i'd override the function. This is what i did: - i looked at loggintoboggan.module and found the 'user_login_block' case - in my template.php i added: function phptemplate_user_login_block($form) { return _phptemplate_callback('user_login_block', array('form' => $form)); } - i created user_login_block.tpl.php which contains: <h1> SOMETHING </h1> <?php print "<pre>"; print_r(array_values($form)); print"</pre>"; print_r(drupal_render($form)); ?> The 'SOMETHING' is displayed properly as well as the printing of the array_values. However, the call to drupal_render(...) does not seem to do ANYTHING. What am i doing wrong? I am using drupal 5.0. thanks mat
