Dreamweaver Cheese

A Dreamweaver extension could serve the purpose of luring people in the right direction. I was the typical designer who started out with the Dreamweaver crutch before I discovered the joys of xhtml/css . Most people that use Dreamweaver use it because they don't know any better and you can't really change that until they sink their teeth into a project and find out that it is really holding them back. I explored Mambo/Joomla! before Drupal back in the day because it did have a Dreamweaver extension and that made me feel like I was on familiar ground. I've seen other designers do the same for similar reasons. In the end the extension would not be that useful but I see valuable PR opportunity. Determine Home Page

I'm a newbie to Drupal Theme development, and I'm starting with BlueMarine because we want a table based theme. We're porting a static HTML web-site to Drupal, and it's all table-based. I'm gonna have to use that Import-HTML module to get the main content into Drupal. So this static web-site has it's own primary links in the header, and it's not consistent. One one home-page I have 6 items, on most of the other pages it is 3 items, and a few have 4 items. So, I am just wondering how I can determine which page is the home page ... then I can do some PHP to determine how to output that header menu. BTW, I did order the Drupal 5 Themes book, I own the Packt Drupal book, and the Pro Drupal Development book. I am also on the Drupal site and looking at the documentation of how to create a theme. So, I am doing as much research as possible. Thanks! Tom

Home page and other page not same theme. How ?

Hi, sorry for this possible stupid question: I need to create a theme where homepage use one theme and other page use another. For theme I intend the aspect that user see. In home page I have some blocks/regions, in the other page I have only one big block (for example). How can I do it ? RTFM are wellcome. Michelle asked me to send this on for her, as her email is acting up. -- Susan (HedgeMage) ======================================================================== If you maintain a theme on drupal.org, please read this. The Advanced Forum module needs to hook into _phptemplate_variables to work. I've done my best to minimize what needs to be merged by moving the bulk of it into a function. So all the user needs to add is this: if (module_exists('advanced_forum')) { $vars = advanced_forum_addvars($hook, $vars); } But even adding those three lines is hard for people who don't know anything about code. The problem is that _phptemplate_variables varies from theme to theme. Some themes don't have it at all and some have rather complex functions. My readme says to put those lines at the very top, which will usually work. But then there's themes like Garland that stick the "return $vars;" inside the "page" case and return just "array()" for everything else! So then I have to explain that $vars needs to get returned for all cases. This gets to be a big support pain trying to help people make this work with every possible theme out there. So what would be really, really awesome for me and for any other module maintainer that needs to add to _phptemplate_variables is if the theme maintainers would be willing to always return $vars from the function even if you only use a particular case in there. I'm not aware of any problems with just returning the $vars that is passed in to the function to begin with so it shouldn't affect your themes any and will make life easier for your users that need to add to the function. Of course, if you want to be really super helpful to me, you could add the advanced forum call right to the themes so the user doesn't have to do any merging. But I realize that's a lot to ask. :) Thanks, Michelle
