shortcut for phptemplate variable printouts

Hi, In order to minimize the php code seen by a themer, I was wondering what people thought of making simple aliases for basic printouts of phptemplate variables. The phptemplate engine would go in and find these aliases and convert them to their actual values. BEFORE: <?php print $content ?> <?php print $sidebar_left ?> AFTER: {$content} {$sidebar_left} Just looking to reduce the amount of potentially intimidating code for new themers. http://groups.drupal.org/theme-development Just to de-lurk for a second and riff off of the "Drupal theming is complex" idea, is it just me, or does anyone else think this particular approach would wind up making a lot of work for the guy? Seems like too many changes in the pipe for theming, let alone everything else going on, that this would be especially practical. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Hey, guys -- Just to touch on the subject of the velvet curtain? I don't personally understand why Drumm's idea didn't catch fire: http://groups.drupal.org/node/716 Specifically, the use of a microformat. If one were drafted for use in conjunction with themeable functions, it would be a simple thing to write a module that would expose every themable function in a given Drupal installation. Granted, this could probably be accomplished by pouring over the code by hand and looking for such instances, and people might blow it off like they do thumbnails for themes. Absolutely. I'm leaving in a couple more hours for Drupal Camp, Seattle, but after that, I will have a fair amount of free time that I can put towards this. Better still, I've been puzzling over most of this for the last couple of weeks, having seemed to have picked up on most of it (ties to forms api, accommodating cck, getting everything into a test page) that this all makes sense in context. However you wanna do this works for me, though. Should we meet via IRC, you wanna just email instructions? I tend to go in 24 hour cycles (or 48, if it’s a nocturnal cycle) so time zones don't matter so much as figuring them out. Otherwise, I'm open. Will be gone the next couple of days, but after that, just hit me back with whatever plan works for you and me and Vlad can compare notes and get the word out with anyone who isn't reading the list. -Max -- No virus found in this outgoing message. how to customize text area?

hello, I wish to make drupal in Hindi(Indian National language). I am working on translation. it is almost done. but I face problem in making online content. lets c , when I go to creat content and type something it goes with english, not in Hindi. but I wish my user can creat content in both english and hindi. how to make this possible? is there any way to customize the every text area of my site for this? I some how have some scripts. one of those is given below. and I wish to add it before every text area . this will help me make my user write directly in Hindi. let me know where to add this script, so this script will apply to all text areas. I think it is page.tpl.php , but cant get actually where to add it? script is given below. <script>textFieldArr[textFieldArr.length]="edit-name";devExists = true;</script> thanks.

How To Theme Teaser Apart From Nodes

How to add rtl support for the sidebar?

New theme "Nautilus"

Hi everyone, I'd like to announce "Nautilus", a new theme. This is not as much a finished theme as it is a layout engine. With the included module, admins can change the layout of their site (specifically the columns) with the click of a button. The system is based on the Yahoo User Interface library grid system. This system allows one to nest grid objects within one another, allowing for a flexible but predictable system. This theme is set up to use as many as 5 columns for the page structure. Columns can be added other template files by invoking 'nautilus_grid' and passing in an array, similar to the form API. For an example, look at node.tpl.php. I still need to write a README and work out the licensing issues with the YUI CSS (covered under a BSD license, so I think I can dual license it).
