theme add style, stylesheet_import, to theme or not to theme

... I am utterly and completely lost. http://drupal.org/node/58633 is a patch to change theme('add_style') into theme_add_style. Is theme _add_style the ont theme function that is not a theme function? Or is this just coded VERY incosistent. And what about theme(stylesheet_import) should that too be theme_stylesheet_import, or is tata one correct, and called via theme() ? I would love some clarification. This needs * documentation * a bug/task to solve right away (as in: after the release) Which I can open/create, provided I have a clear understanding of the problem. The fact that there is so much confusion, BTW, points out that, eventhough there might be no bug, or problem technically, there still is a lot of room for improving this strange thing. Temporary Editing Question

Top o' the mornin' to you (well, U.S. east-coaster's morning, that is.) Although I am in the process of converting from an Xtemplate-based style module, I am currently using a Chameleon-derived style. In my PHPTemplate work, I've set up different page displays based on the url (specifically I'm not interested in node type differences, just sectional differences, and so I'm filtering on the URL arguments.) However, I'd like to implement this same feature during the transition phase, and I am wondering just where, in the Xtemplate scheme of things, I should be looking to inject my PHP code to filter by node type? I'm happy to know that Xtemplate is by the wayside, in favor of PHPTemplate. What a load of code the other way. Thanks for any quick pointers of where to edit first (so I don't blow things apart.) -- Gary P.S. I checked in on the Csthemes IRC channel and there are a half-dozen folks listed as present but no one seems really to be around. Are there other Drupal-related IRC channels, even if not theme-specific? Ciao.

first theme - serene - feedback?

Hi all. I've packaged the theme that runs my website (http://www.willwyatt.com/taxonomy/term/16). The description can be found at http://www.willwyatt.com/node/136 The theme can be found at http://www.willwyatt.com/files/serene.tar.gz This is my first Drupal theme, so I'm looking for feedback /criticism before I make a post about it on drupal.org. Some caveats: - I keep my css in separate files (font.css, colors.css, etc.). This works well for me, but I understand it drives some people crazy. It also adds 6k or so to the total size of the css. - I don't use a search box, title, or slogan on my site, although they should all look fine in the theme. - The theme was developed against the latest 4.7 release candidate.
