Hi, I have reviewed the 21 comments on Customizing your home page and
re-written it as a much longer page. Dublin Drupaller has pointed
out that he would prefer a shorter page.
Comments and feedback welcome.
Cheers,
KIeran
Sorry about my rant about Microsoft IE. I grow up addressing incompatibilities every time a new version was rolled. Seems this time it won't be the case (I really hope so).
Please keep us posted about the cause of the issue(s), in case we need to fix our sites too.

Keryn, you might also want to share this information with our
community of themers, which I have CC'd. They use the same software
to build themes for more than 60, 000 sites and it would be good to
identify issues early that would affect those sites.
We also have a page on issues that themers have with different
browsers: http://drupal.org/node/37156. If you have some tips for
IE7 compatibility I'd be happy to add them.
Cheers,
Kieran

Hello again,
After a quick research I found an interesting article "Star HTML and Microsoft IE7":
http://www.webstandards.org/buzz/archive/2005_12.html
This might be the issue they are referring.

Hello all,
Why do they think the problem is on our side? Unless they are addressing an issue with our themes not adhering to standards, they don't have a valid point.
I suspect this IE7 release will break many sites, just to force people to code in a way only this browser can understand.
My suggestion is that we need to keep ourselves very skeptical about their incompatibility reports and keep focusing on standards. If they want to release a broken browser that's up to them.
Let's see what those supposed incompatibilities are.

Cross posting this to the docs list as well....
Just added a page about Drupal's accessibility compliance:
http://drupal.org/node/44661
I've tested all the core themes, but only with book content pages. We
should really make a checklist of pages and test them across all the
core themes.
Anyone have any other info the want to add to the page?
By the way, yes of course, the page itself fails accessibility
compliance!
Just a minor thing, but hopefully we can get Bluebeach to be accessible.
We should also have a page about Drupal producing code that validates,
many other CMS applications don't, so it is a feature to be proud off.
Best regards,
Robert
One of the websites I developed has a reasonably strong presence on
Google News. However, many, if not most, of the links Google has are
titled "Add New Comment". I wondered why, and came to the conclusion
that google is reading the "links" tags that contain that link as
containing the permalink.
So I have changed that class tag to "action". While I was at it, I also
changed the title tags to h1.
I will watch over the coming week how Google News reads the content with
these changes, and report my results here. But I think that SEO is
something that is worthwhile for consideration as an ongoing theme
development topic.
Already Drupal sites do quite well. On regular Google search, sites seem
rather well optimized. But these anamolies, such as with Google News,
point to areas where we might look to improve.
Does anyone else have thoughts or experiences on SEO, and how we all
might modify existing themes and alter approaches to future themes?

Could you set the page to published? I'm not able to see the page; access
denied.

Hi,
I have read through some of the comments, and a lot of them are not adding anything usefull to the content. Do I just delete them?

Hi, it would be helpful if we could update the page and include the
information in the comments. If someone has the time to edit this
page based on the comments it would be appreciated.
This page has 15 comments that need to be cleaned up.
Cheers,
Kieran
