Administration user experience survey TODO: Blocks for roles

Hi, according to the survey the 3rd hardest thing for administrators to do is to configure blocks for roles. It is possible to do this manually right now: http://drupal.org/node/ 27690, http://drupal.org/node/13266 with PHP. Integrating CiviCRM 1.3 With Organic Groups

I'm trying to get up a version of an old application that used the old clubs module. We had discussed moving it to Organic Groups a year and a half ago, but it never happened. I'm now doing a lot of work with CiviCRM running under CivicSpace, and have heard that Moshe has a version of Organic Groups for Drupal 4.7 that will integrate with CiviCRM 1.3. I've done some tests on a 4.7 install, and it seems to do what I need, more or less. I also hear that at least some of the Organic Groups 4.7 feature set have been back ported to Drupal 4.6. Heads up, I committed my UTF-8 patch (http://drupal.org/node/40515) Looks big, but it really isn't /that/ scary. (*) But because of this, we need to apply an upgrade to all tables. So, if you have a contrib module with tables, please go to: http://drupal.org/node/22218#utf8_sql ( http://drupal1.osuosl.org/node/22218#utf8_sql ) Don't worry, it's just a quick copy/paste operation, really. Takes only 5 minutes. Aren't you glad drumm made that awesome update system? ;) Thanks, Steven Wittens (*) And it fixes the last of the UTF-8 issues: database field lengths are now guaranteed to be expressed in characters, not bytes. SQL operations like substring, lower, etc are guaranteed to work. Alphabetical ordering can sort accented letters properly. And much more.

I'm going to argue _against_ forcing a single hierarchy of 'all modules must be in their own directory with /modules' for this reason. While it might make sense, the current setup is far more flexible... I was using this sort of 'unpack new module into own directory into /modules' approach each time, and then hating doing upgrades/etc, when I realized there was nothing stopping from me putting 'my modules' into a subdirectory for ease of tracking/backup/etc. Please don't make me go back to the harder way of doing, _regardless_ of any argument 'but now the system can upgrade modules...' - I want to be able to 'bundle'. Developers _should_ be able to bundle (put multiple modules into one directory), etc.

Drupal 4.7 release schedule

Hello, for your information, I plan to release a new beta after both bugfix events. One such even is scheduled for tomorrow (http://drupal.org/ node/44182), and one such event is scheduled for next Tuesday (http:// drupal.org/node/45057) That means that the next beta release, beta 4, is one week away. There are still a number of showstopping bugs. It would be great if we could focus on these first. Mass import of HTML?

Worth asking here, as I've found no good solutions yet, and I'm sure others have faced similar issues and solved it in various ways. Despite CS shipping with node_import, and a few people posting on the Drupal forums about various times they've coded up different scripts to import old html sites, it doesn't look like there is a good and mature way to import an existing HTML based site, except for the old cut and paste approach. Ideally, give either a set of html files or an set of URLs, a script should be able to import each pages html, and make a node. Stripping out things like headers and footers would be good. Problems: node_import: requires CSV compilation of pages. How do you convert existing pages into a CSV? Script? import_export (despite 4.5 label on Drupal, was made 4.6 friendly): same problem... also does XML... import_html: http://coders.co.nz/drupal_development/?q=taxonomy/term/4 Specific to the job, but Dan hasn't released the code fully yet... in email, he mentioned it was missing bits wgHTML: an ugly hack that wraps html Drupalishly, but not a real import Other scripts: haven't found a good example yet.
