Updating custom Views plugins for D8

Hey everyone, seeing as Views for D8 is now well on its way and appears to be mostly (or even fully) updated to the new core plugin system, it should theoretically be possible to update plugins written for Views 7.x-3.x to run on Views 8.x-3.x. The only problem is that I can find zero documentation on how to do that. This (http://blog.erdfisch.de/2012/09/hands-introduction-drupal-8-plugin-system) comes closest, but it only explains how to create an empty style plugin, not how to make it do the same stuff an existing D7 plugin does. Anything? Or am I way too early with this? Best regards, -Chris

File upload and convert

Hi Folks, I have a content type with TWO file fields, in which I will designate TWO PDFs. On upload completion I want to run something like: "exec(pdftk f1.pdf background f2.pdf output f1.pdf)". This will "brand" f1.pdf. I don't see any standard mechanism and so I'm not sure how to go about this. I have a general understanding, but that doesn't answer the question. I am sure I don't want to intercept all possible uploads; just the uploads from this specific content type. So, can I define a file upload hook which is scoped to this specific content type? I haven't seen anything that makes me believe I can. Can I create a custom file field to use any time I need to perform a conversion? Can my custom file field "extend" the existing file field, so I don't have to port improvements/bugfixes to my custom file field version? So many questions... (-: Thanks for the help, Chris.

Hi, I’m Nicole Haenni and I'm doing research for my thesis at the University of Berne (scg.unibe.ch) with Mircea Lungu and Niko Schwarz. We are researching on monitoring the activity in software ecosystems. This is a study about information needs that arise in such software ecosystems. I need your help to fill out the survey below. It takes about 10 minutes to complete it. A software ecosystem can be a project repository like GitHub, an open source community (e.g. the Apache community) or a language-based community (e.g. Smalltalk has Squeaksource, Ruby has Rubyforge). Hi, I am Tejas Nikumbh, an undergrad at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. I will be participating in GSoC this year. [GSoC 2013]. In order to imporve my chances for getting selected this year, I would like to start contributing early on to Open Source development via Drupal. Here's a little background info : *Languages proficient in : *Java<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=24&displayform…>, Python, Javascript<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=25&displayform…> [+jQuery] , HTML[+HTML5 Canvas], CSS<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=13&displayform…> [+CSS3]. C++ should be on the list soon. *CS Theory :* Discrete Math, Probablity and Random Processes, Data Structures and Algorithms. *SVN : *Github, Mercurial . *Basic Machine learning [Regression algos and some classification algos]* Based on the above info, are there any projects at Drupal which might suit me? hook_schema results in errors
